upgraded. Most recent work includes a complete re-wiring of the DC electrical system. Thesail inventory is current. The running rigging is good to go. Artemis is equipped for Category 0open ocean racing. This is a fast and fun boat that is fully capable of winning races.

She’s a race boat but the crew won’t suffer and she works well for the delivery or a familycruise. The open bow quickly coverts to a double berth. Equipped with An Espar heater,stereo/cd/mp3 player, Glacier Bay refrigerator, a four burner stove and oven, Artemis is not leftwanting. If you are looking at a performance boat the likes of an SC 50 or 52, J-145 orperhaps an Andrews 56, make sure you come take a look at Artemis..

    AccommodationsAccommodations

Artemis has an open layout very well suited for her ocean racing pedigree. In race mode shesleeps 8 in four settee berths and four pipe berths. In cruise mode a removable bunk is addedto the bow for a double berth, conceivably sleeping up to 10 people comfortably. In order tokeep things light and simple Westerly Marine built Artemis with no head liner. The interiorsurfaces are a faired finish, beautiful and utilitarian. Amenities like Espar forced air heat andGlacier Bay DC refrigeration have been added keeping the crews (delivery, racing and cruising)comfortable and happy. The floors are a teak and holy ply and there is enough wood on theboat to keep the interior warm and inviting, while still keeping her light and fast. All of theheavy equipment such as the engine, house bank of batteries and the tanks are near the centerof the boat keeping the ends light as it should be.

Interior walk through from stem to stern.Interior walk through from stem to stern.

The bow sectionbow section is open with no floor boards and finished in white. Non skid has been addedto the floor for traction in this area. At the dock this is the perfect spot to store the sails. While under way a large opening hatch works well for spinnaker take downs done on the bow.

  • This area does convert to a double berth by simply installing bunk boards and cushions madefor that purpose.

Moving aft and to port is a line hanging lockerline hanging locker with the enclosed headenclosed head across from the linelocker on the starboard side. The head is made private with a sliding door. A Groco toiletpumps over board or into a bladder holding tank. A fresh water manual pump and sink providea space to wash and shave. There is ample shelf space, a mirror, and a canvas bag with 8niches for personals, like tooth brushes etc for the crew. Two more hanging mesh bags providemore storage for toiletries etc.

The keel stepped masteel stepped mast is just aft of the main bulkhead making the boundary from bow to thesalon and galley area. The galleygalley is split with the stainless double sink and CNG 4 burnerstove to starboard and the large top loading Glacier Bay FridgeGlacier Bay Fridge to port.

Aft of the galley is the salonsalon. The engine is centered in the middle of the salon doubling as atable top. Either side of the engine are settees and pipe berths. Under the settees are the two45 gal water tanks (90 gal total) Ergonomically this works well providing a narrow enough pathways to keep things safe at sea, providing spots to brace one self. The engine access is alsovery hard to beat. Aft of the engine is the on-center companionway.

The forward facing navigators tablenavigators table is to starboard of the companion way and just aft of thestarboard settee and pipe berth. This is a large table well suited for actually laying out papercharts if needed. There is loads of storage under the lifting table top. The electronics andbreaker panels are accessible from the navigators table. The dedicated Dell computer and flatscreen are a racing navigators dream.

Across from the nav table outboard of the companion way on the port side is a hanging lockerhanging lockerand three deep shelves.three deep shelves. The shelves are large enough to store all the crew’s gear bags. Justinboard of the shelves are seats with a large amount storage under, perfect for tools andspares.

Behind the companion way is a fiddled table surface. Under this area are the fuel tank and thehouse bank of batteries. Outboard and aft of the chart table, the shelves and hanging lockerare the aft settees and pipe berthsaft settees and pipe berths. With the exception of the Espar heater and the steeringquadrant the interior stern section of the boat is open and devoid of stuff.

There isn’t a bad bunk in the house! This is a perfect set up for offshore racing with enoughbunks to keep the off watch crew on the desired side of the boat. The lee cloths and pipeberths make for very comfortable berths at sea. Artemis has a smart and well thought outinterior, well suited for what she does best, win races comfortably!
