Option 2:

Assignment: Opportunity Space Identification

ReadingsSix Rules for Effective Forecasting, by Paul Saffo, Harvard Business Review

The Assignment is to find fertile areas for mobile applications development. (Refer Six Rules for Effective Forecasting, by Paul Saffo, Harvard Business Review

Your assignment is to identify one trend that you think will lead to an opportunity:

1. Find some evidence/data to show why you believe it is a trend that is significant and that it will remain/become more significant in the next years.

2. Find an example of one or more current products or services in the space you identified to show there is some evidence that a market (albeit perhaps emerging) exists. Remember, at this time you are NOT coming up with ideas for new mobile applications, products, services, or ventures, but rather just to locate a space which you think may become ripe for entrepreneurial opportunity development in mobile.

You are doing forecasting. Forecasting is tricky and full of uncertainty by its very definition. It is easy to look back and say "why didn’t I see that coming?" (Ex: OLA App, OLX App) For some tips on forecasting, read Six Rules for Effective Forecasting, by Paul Saffo, Harvard Business Review.
