Android onboarding instructions for VUMCEmployeeSetup
Use the instructions below to connect your Android device to VUMC’s
secure wireless network, VUMCEmployee, using the setup and
configuration software, Cloudpath. You can also use these instructions to
recreate your connection if it is deleted or if you change your e-
password.
Delete the existing Cloudpath app and the files (netconfig) associated
with it.
Select “VUMCEmployeeSetup”. Your device will automatically associate
to the onboarding SSID.
Select “Sign in to Wi-Fi network” on Wi-Fi settings screen OR swipe
down from top of phone and select “sign in” prompt.
Select the “menu” button at top right of your screen (3 dots) and select
“Use this network as is”.
Press the phone’s “home” button. Open a browser and navigate to a non-
https website. (eg. Vanderbilt.edu or Cnn.com).
VUMC’s Wi-Fi webpage will be presented. Select “I accept the terms”,
then select “Start”.
Select “Install”. The device will download Cloudpath. After the download
completes, swipe down from the top of the screen and select
“Cloudpath.apk”. By default, installation from unknown sources is
blocked. If you see “Install blocked”, select “Settings”.
Within Security settings, scroll down and select “Unknown sources” to
allow the installation of Cloudpath. Select “OK” to confirm.
Unknown sources are now allowed. “Select” the device “back” button.
Open the device’s App drawer, and select “Downloads”. Locate and
select “Cloudpath.apk”, then select “Install” on the next screen. Select
“Done” once the application installation concludes.
Open a browser and select the “Setup Wifi” button. The Cloudpath
application should launch and prompt you to “Continue”.
When prompted for your VUNetID and ePassword, add vanderbilt\ before
entering your VUNetID.
If your device is not secured with a PIN, password, or pattern, a prompt
to enter a screen lock code will follow.
After confirming a security measure, you may be prompted to select
which notifications should be shown when the screen is locked. Choose
your preference.
The onboarding process for VUMCEmployeeSetup is complete.
Upon completion you may disable the allow installation from Unknown
sources setting. This feature is located under the device’s security
settings.
NOTE: You can now connect to “VUMCEmployee”. Be sure to go back to
wireless settings and delete the “vuNet” ssid from your saved network
list. The screens may vary for different Android versions and phone
models.
Note: If the above steps do not work, Please try the following:
1. Uninstall the Cloudpath app 2. Clear your browser’s cache 3. Go to Settings > Security > Clear Credentials (it may be grayed out) 4. Disregard any onboarding/secure Wi-Fi networks related to your
environment 5. Restart your device 6. Connect to the onboarding SSID 7. Close any browser that pops up and go to Chrome 8. Visit a website to be redirected to the Cloudpath portal 9. Go through the workflow and download the Cloudpath app 10. Install the app and select “Done” when finished. Do not open
the app after it installs 11. Return to Chrome and try one of the two links 12. You should not be prompted to download any files. The
Cloudpath app should launch automatically and configure the device.
If the installation still does not work, take screenshots of any error messages and open a Pegasus Incident Ticket.
