ANDY WARHOL A RETROSPECTIVE SYMPOSIUM AND VIDEOTAPE COMPLEMENT ANDY WARHOL RETROSPECTIVE The many sides of Andy Warhol are explored in a symposium and videotape scheduled in conjunction with ANDY WARHOL: A RETROSPECTIVE, a major exhibition on view at The Museum of Modern Art through May 2, 1989. SYMPOSIUM Reflecting on Warhol Thursday, March 16, 6:30 p.m. Moderated by Walter Hopps, director, the Menil Collection, Houston, the panel includes Trevor Fairbrother, associate curator of contemporary art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Richard Sennett, professor of sociology and University Professor of the Humanities at New York University; Kenneth Silver, associate professor of fine arts, New York University; and Amy Taubin, film and television critic, The Village Voice. Tickets for the symposium, which will be held in the Roy and Niuta Titus Theater 1, are $8, $7 Museum members, $5 students. They are available at the Museum's lobby information desk or by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope with payment to the Department of Education, The Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53 Street, New York, NY 10019. VIDEOTAPE Portrait of an Artist: Andy Warhol This seventy-nine-minute videotape examines Warhol's career as it spanned painting, film, publishing, rock music, and television. It includes footage from earlier interviews with the artist, as well as posthumous conversations with prominent collectors, critics, and Factory "superstars." Clips from several of Warhol's films are also featured. Produced and directed by Kim Evans for RM Arts and London Weekend Television, the videotape will be shown continuously in the Museum's Edward John Noble Education Center. * * * February 6—May 2,1989 This exhibition ha* been supported by a generous grant from Knoll International.
