This happened a couple of times. I went in on a Wednesday and the place was speckled with people. The decor is comfy and functional. Couches and couch-chairs are available as well as wooden chairs and tables. There are Marvel vs. Capcom games in the corner. The food is easy to eat and doesn’t require place settings. I got the Wonton Soup (Huge!) and beef rolls (2). The beef rolls had a tangy sauce and the beef was mixed with chives and herbs. It was tasty and healthy. The pork in the soup was spiced well and the soup had a good mix of vegetables. One of the things I like so much about Eden Cafe is that it shows that Fullerton has more to it than bars to get drunk in. Even our bars have more to them. Eden Cafe shows it’s possible to have a town that is not stratified by age. Teens and Tweens walk the same streets as drunken revelers and people learn to look out for each other. In South County the kids are raised in Irvine. When they turn 18 and get bored of that they go to Newport, and the older ones go to Dana Point. In Fullerton people have learned how to be young, medium and old all in one place. You don’t have to feel out-of-place because you are the wrong age. It’s like a town. Like how towns always were. This age-integration gives Fullerton a sense of place. And Eden Cafe helps us return to that.

West Wilshire’sEden Cafe

Downtown Fullerton is not just a collection of bars and night clubs. Today I have found my

little oasis, my little Eden.

Eden Cafe (124 W Wilshire) sits where Lolli Cup used to be. I am not a big Boba fan so I only went in there once, long ago. But now that it’s Eden Cafe they have a variety of finger food, platters and teas and other drinks.

My friends who work at local bars had ordered from there and they looked like they were enjoying what they were eating, and they had trouble answering because their mouths were full.

Dive Bar Review:An Outsider At Sunset Lounge

F u l l e r t o n i a nT H E

If you’re looking for one of Fullerton’s very own locals only joint, then Sunset Lounge is

a good fit for you. One can tell if a spot has this sort of clique mentality, because the crowd have synchronized their cycles, and they all go out to smoke a cigarette at the same time. The bar itself becomes a lung; Inhaling and exhaling it’s inebriated participants every 15-30 minutes. If that doesn’t give it away, look for the people who stare at you like you don’t belong there.

Sunset Lounge doesn’t have any beers on tap, but they have all the classics in a bottle: Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, MGD, Miller Lite, & the champagne of beers: Miller High Life. New Castle and Blue Moon is as fancy as it gets. The beer is cheap though ($3 - $4), and the atmosphere is somewhat entertaining.

Karaoke is available from Wednesday to Sunday. It starts at 9 PM and goes until closing time. There’s always a mix bag of emotions to watch strangers doing karaoke, but be careful cracking jokes. You may find yourself up there too after another couple rounds.

UFC 126:Silva vs. BelfortHosting parties can be a pain, so don’t waste

your money on Pay Per View. That $50 can help pay for a pretty hefty bar tab at any of these local eateries. Catering to large parties are their specialty.

Urgent CareBy Mark Stouffer

At times like this when some people still feel the effects of the recent recession it’s

important to remember there are places that can help.

Our middle-of-winter weather, although mild compared to other places, has left many with colds and fevers. The good news is that the St. Jude Neighborhood Health Center can provide preventative health-care for around $10. You have to be able to document a diminished capacity to pay, which may just be a signed letter by a supporter, but that rate is low enough for even our poorest residents to acquire preven-tative care.

So don’t try to fight it alone. Get the help you need, thanks to St. Jude Medical Center.

You can find out more by calling 714.446.5100.

Or if you would like to donate to this wonderful program you can do so at: www.stjudemedicalcenter.org.
