1 India’s descent into fascism: ANHAD celebrating a decade of resistance New Delhi: In a spate of events that ANHAD is organizing to celebrate a ‘decade of resistance,’ a two day national convention on ‘India’s Descent into Fascism: How Do We Stop It?’ will be held at the Constitution Club in the national capital on April 17 & 18, 2013. Act now for harmony and democra cy (ANHAD) was formed in March 2003 in the aftermath o f Gujarat riots 2002 , and has s ince “actively contested the ideology of hate, the growing authoritarian character of the state, the growth of communal and fascist forces along with doing huge amount of work for the marginalised sections of the society especially women & minorities.” ANHAD has intervened at the poli cy level, has done advocacy work f rom the grass root to the nati onal level. The convention will have representatives from a large number of states to present an over view of the situation from their states, experts who have worked on the questions of how terror has been used as a too l to demonize the minorities, c ommunalization of publi c and private spaces, culture, educational institutions and media & different segments of the society, it will look at recent cases of communal violence and the way forward. A special panel of acad emicians, jurists, activis ts will at the end come out with recommendations for the government and th e civil society.
