Anil Potti – Recipient Of Jimmy V Foundation Translational Research Award

Anil Potti is a dedicated medical oncologist, with many years of professional experience. He is an adventure lover who takes part in a variety of outdoor activities. In addition to this, he likes watching his favorite movies during leisure hours. He also volunteers for various social welfare activities. Furthermore, he donates money to the local church and the local school system.

As a compassionate clinical professional, Anil Potti strives to provide the best possible care to his patients. He patiently listens to their concerns and provides them complete assistance throughout the course of treatment. He lays emphasis on personalized cancer treatment and believes that personalizing the cancer therapy will not only improve the efficacy, but also spare patients unnecessary toxicity. According to him, there are two venues that need to be pursued to achieve some real success in cancer therapy. These venues are: clinical trials with an independent oversight to validate the biomarkers and a complete registry (biobanking with clinical annotation). There is a need of concerted effort that can bring together major community hospitals and academic centers in alliances to deliver personalized cancer care.

Anil Potti pursued his M.B.B.S. degree from Christian Medical College & Hospital, Vellore (India). Before that, he attended LFJ College in Secunderabad to complete his undergraduate studies in Biology, Physics & Chemistry (Majors). He has held many positions with different organizations, including UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences as Assistant Professor. In 2007, he received board-certification in Medical Oncology. He was the member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Society, American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), National Lung Cancer Partnership, and Correlative Science Committee (CALGB).

Over the course of his career, Anil Potti has obtained many awards. Some of these awards are Leonard P. Tow Humanism in Medicine Award (2003), Jimmy V Foundation Translational Research Award, Burroughs Wellcome Physician Award, ASCO IDEA Mentor Award, Lisa Stafford Clinical Research Prize, Robert Silber Research Prize, Outstanding Teacher award- Internal Medicine Residents, and more.
