Your birthday is the one unique thing that sets you aside of everyone else. It’s your day. I chose to direct The Big Five Oh! because in less than a year, I will be turning 50. I’m not sure how I feel about that. I don’t think I look almost 50, certainty do not feel like I am and most definitely do not act the age. Whether I want it to happen or not, it is going to happen … unless, of course … (never mind). I remember being in high school and thinking about how “old” I would be when the year 2000 arrived, and I remember saying “Wow, 36!” I survived that fear, and look upon 50 as being an accomplished feat. One that I will welcome. Please enjoy the show as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

Biographies
Cheryl Clark (Kathy) is performing in her 2nd show at ACT, hav-ing last appeared as Lois Douglas in The Amorous Ambassador. She has performed in over 35 shows in roles such as Sarah in The Quilt-ers, Truvey in Steel Magnolias, and the witch in Into the Woods. After a successful run of Nunsense where she played Sister Amnesia, Cheryl joined with two other actors to form a musical entertainment group. Cheryl works for ISU and lives in Des Moines with her
husband, Max. They have 3 grown daughters and 4 grandchildren. Cheryl’s birthday is November 29.
Beth Feilmeier (Julie) is appearing at ACT for the 2nd time after previously portraying Kelly in The Maginot Line earlier this season. She served as the assistant director for The Amorous Ambassador in April. Beth works for the State Fire Marshal and part-time as an optician at JC Penney. Beth enjoys spending time playing with her dog Gizmo, karaoke, and potluck/game nights. Beth’s birthday is August 18; the last day of the show’s run.
Michael Garrison (Eric) may be new to ACT, but he’s not new to the stage, having performed in Sunset Blvd at the Des Moines Play-house, Eddie in Voices from Washington High, Oz in The Wizard of Oz and Gordon in Laughing Stock. Michael has worked at Quik Trip for the past five years. His hobbies include paying video games, watching movies and doing karaoke. Michael’s birthday is May 1.
James L. Machamer (George) is making, not only his ACT debut, but his acting debut. His audition application read like this under the experience section: “None! Always wanted to try and so I am here.” When not dreaming about acting, James enjoys time with family and friends, gardening, reading and exercising. James would like to thank his friends and family for their support - “Love to you all.” James’ birthday is August 14.
Michael Porche (Douglas) has been involved in many ACT pro-ductions, with his favorite roles being Mr. Roat in Wait Until Dark and Max in Lend Me A Tenor. Lately, his forte has been directing, having directed The Baseball Show and The Maginot Line. Michael is Co-Owner of Geaux Meaux with his son Matt. Michael is married to his beautiful wife Tara, and is a promoter of organ donation awareness. Michael’s birthday is December 15.
Lauren Stratton (Sara) is on stage for her 2nd show at ACT, having last appeared as the Witch of the North in The Wizard of Oz: The Nonmusical in January 2007. Lauren is currently a student at UNI with a major in Gerontology, a minor in Chemistry and on a Pre-Med track. She also participates in the UNI Women’s Choir and Panther Marching Band. Lauren volunteers at New Horizons, Mill-pond and Animal Rescue League. Lauren’s birthday is April 11.
Tamra Williams (Marie) is appearing in her 3rd ACT show of the season, previously as Mom in Dad’s Christmas Miracle and Zoe in The Maginot Line. Tamra and her husband, Greg, have 4 children: Tori, Arielle, Lexi, and Ellyana. She operates Knight & Nole eBay & Etsy shops and enjoys antiquing, reading, puzzles, fishing, the out-doors, and games. Tamra is currently serving in her first year as an ACT board member. Tamra’s birthday is March 8.
Doug Moon (Director) has been on stage for three ACT produc-tions; The Maginot Line (Mike), The Odd Couple (Roy) and The Long Red Herring (Bojo), which has been his favorite role. He has been Assistant Director on two shows and worked Tech on three shows. During the daytime, Doug works as an Analytics Consultant for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. When not at work or the theatre, Doug can probably be found at an I-Cubs game. Doug’s birthday
is July 24.
Tom Foster (Assistant Director) has been in many productions at ACT. Some the shows Tom has been in: Amorous Ambassador, It Runs in the Family, The Baseball Show and Father of the Bride. He will be directing his first show next season, Sherlock’s Last Case. Tom works as a carpenter for KH Construction. When not giving his time to ACT, Tom spends most of his free time outside playing disc golf. Tom’s birthday is January 14.
Evelyn Vos (Producer) enjoys theater and has appeared in ACT's Heaven Can Wait, High Society, Father of the Bride, and It Runs in the Family. Currently she is serving on the ACT Board of Directors. She enjoys listening to music, volunteering with charitable organi-zations, and watching how a director puts an ACT show together. Evelyn and husband, Creston, enjoy spending time with their chil-dren, grandchildren, card club and traveling. Evelyn’s birthday is
December 24.

Our volunteers are the heart and life of ACT. ACT could not survive without them. This show ACT would like to highlight the volunteer efforts of Lynn Arterburn.
Lynn has been involved at ACT since 1992 when she was enlisted to sew costumes for The Wizard of Oz. Since then she has been a strong force in helping ACT thrive. Lynn has performed absolute-ly every job that can be done the theater such as acting, directing, producing, lights/sounds, stage managing, and building sets. She is a wiz at sewing and many of the unique costumes seen on stage or for the children’s drama camps have been made by her. Lynn
has created all the playbills since 2006. She served two terms on the Board of Directors and was president during one of those terms. Lynn is currently the ACT Marketing Coordinator and the Director of the Children’s Drama Camps. She is looking forward to directing The Best Christmas Pageant in December.
Lynn retired in May from the Ankeny School District after working there for fourteen years and subbing for nine years before that. She hopes to be able to enjoy spending more time with her twin 5-year-old grandchildren and traveling with her husband Doug.
