ST. RICHARD PRAY FOR US

Holy Influencers . . .

The Easter season is in full swing and we continue to celebrate with children who are receiving sacraments for the

first time. It’s certainly a very busy time of year, but it is also one of the most rewarding times of the year. What a joy,

privilege and absolute honor it is to accompany children and their families on these momentous faith journeys! To see

a beaming smile on a child’s face after they have just received Holy Communion for the first time, to have an 8th

grader tell you the best part of the retreat was celebrating Reconciliation, and to go from “I’m only here because my

parents are making me” to “I want to learn more about my faith and be closer to God” – these are just a few examples

of many edifying moments.

As a child I had a lot of “holy influencers” in my life: my wonderful parents and two sets of grandparents who

witnessed to generous Catholic stewardship in the way they cared for each other and others in need, older siblings,

my friends’ parents, teachers . . . Attending Mass as a child, I would look to these adults, watching and learning from

them, wanting to imitate their holiness. I am now finding that many of the holy influencers in my life as an adult are

children!

Who are the holy influencers in your life? Oh, that we may all have childlike faith!

Blessings to you,

Ann Geise, Coordinator of Faith Formation

“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will not enter the

kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the

kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives

me.” Matt18:3-5

“I am the good shepherd...and I lay down my life for the sheep…and they will heed my

voice.” – JOHN 10:14-16

When you pray, do you only ask Jesus for the things that you want? Do you ever

ask Him what He wants from you? How do you listen for His response? Usually,

the answer is in “quiet whispers”, so take time every day, in silence, to actively

listen for His response.

JESUS THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Jesus tells us that he is the shepherd who cares for his sheep. He knows our health problems, our hurt feelings, our painful memories, our worries. He not only knows all that, but he also promises to guide us through it. Jesus empowers us to continue what he began in this world. The apostles who ran away in fear during Jesus’ passion are now speaking boldly about him and healing in his name. We probably cannot work great healings, but we can listen to others with the heart of Christ and we can speak words of encouragement in his name.

GRADE 2 PICNIC

Mrs. Cook’s Grade 2 students earned a picnic outside for their efforts at “Being a Rainbow in Someone’s Cloud.” The great weather helped them to enjoy it even more.

Have a great week from all of us at St. Richard Catholic School!

CLASSIC BOOK CLUB NEWS

This year we were again blessed with the author

Claudia Whatsitt visiting our discussion of her

next book, BROKEN LINES. We thank her and Pam

Hopkins who has brought Claudia to our group. It is

interesting having an author present at our book

discussions.

Our April book, our 4th of the year, is titled LILAC

GIRLS, by Martha Kelly. This book is about 3

different ladies and the affect World War 11 had on

their lives and their families which was not always

pleasant or easy. A good read. We will meet in

Guadalupe Tuesday, April 24, at 6:00 PM to discuss

this book. Any question contact Dianne at 826-0428.

Would you consider becoming a

Vincentian?

The St. Richard Conference of the St.

Vincent de Paul Society can use and would welcome

you as a member. For information, call Mary

Brodbeck at 419-826-0611.

a mission trip.

Students will be at the doors this weekend and next collecting pledges to help cover

the cost of the trip.

We thank you in advance for your generosity to all who will be contributing financially and especially to everyone who

will be keeping our pilgrims in prayer!
