Anna’s really early birthdayFriday, April 9, 2010

Because Nana was only here for Elizabeth’s birthday, we decided to have an early - really early birthday for Anna. That way Anna could feel like Nana was there for her cake and present opening too. We made Anna’s favorite dinner (homemade chick-fil-a-like chicken), and then a small cake. I decorated it with icing leftover from Elizabeth’s cake.

It was a fun simple party that made Anna so happy. She was kind of sad that Nana was only able to be here for Elizabeth’s birthday (Nana is a busy lady and can’t really stay in China for the whole month), but this party made it all better for Anna.And what 3 year old girl doesn’t like to see the # 4 on a cake. Growing up is super fun!

Nana rescued Anna’s hair just in time from those candles.Anna is very particular about which piece of cake she gets. She will wait as long as it takes to get the requested piece. On this evening however, I didn’t make her wait to get the ‘A’ from Anna.

The true highlight of the evening was the ice cream. We have ice cream in our home maybe 2-3 times a year. It is something that is reserved for traveling to a fun location. Like Dairy Queen in Changsha, or Ben & Jerry’s in Hong Kong, or Swansons in Thailand. I need to stop. SO anyway the girls were very excited about the ice cream for this party. I even had chocolate and strawberry syrup to add on top.And it was a good thing I added to the cake because my cake turned out suprisingly dry and not yummy. At least the kids liked the icing.

And you can see that the newness of turning 5 is what Elizabeth is excited about.

Then after all the sugar it was time to dance.

And kiss your brother.And hide in the tunnel from kissy sisters.

Then time for presents. Anna opened the present from Nana & Grandad and Uncle Mike & Aunt Ginia & Uncle Drew. It was the same presents Elizabeth got - and that was perfect for her. They LOVE having the same stuff.Happy 3 week early birthday Anna!

Happy Early Birthday is right! How fun to get to celebrate so early knowing you get to do itagain in a few weeks! Can't believe you have a 5 and 4 year old! Ilove the picture of Anna andNanna, really sweet.

I loved being able to celebrate both Elizabeth and Anna's birthdays while I was there, even ifAnna's was a "few" days early (actually, only 24 days). I am so glad they all have Leapstersnow! I'm sure the next thing they would like is an Ipod!
