129 Non-SAP
Database
General
Query
Non-SAP database Please explain the role of non-SAP databases in the proposed
technology. What the applications, the non-SAP databases are
going to support? Are mission critical surround applications like
Manufacturing Execution System etc. would be supported by
the non-SAP database, like any other manufacturing
applications?
Provide detailed breakup Database shall be for Intranet and other home
grown / standard application as developed /
acquired by BCPL in future.
130 The RFP talks
about 2
database
systems, one
which underlies
the central ERP -
SAP, and the
other for the
surround
applications.
Although the
details of the
surround
applications are
not mentioned
in this ERP, from
our experience
as the prime
database
provider, for
both ERP and
non-ERP
applications in
manufacturing
sector, we have
observed that
there is a strong
requirement of
General
Query
No integration requirement between the
SAP and non-SAP databases mentioned
in the RFP
Since, from a practical viewpoint there would always be
integration between the non-ERP and ERP databases, would
BCPL provide some guidelines on this data integration, so that
the bidder r takes them in due consideration in formulating their
solution architecture and choosing the appropriate tools and
technologies
Minimal guideline on data integration between ERP
and non-ERP databases
There will be no direct database level integration
between SAP Database and Non-SAP Database.
131 Technology
Deployment
General Query6 standalone servers in DC and 6
standalone servers in DR
What is the role of 6 numbers of standalone servers proposed to
be procured both for DC and DR? What are the software
packages that BCPL intends to install in these standalone
servers. Please provide detailed breakup
Provide detailed breakup Shall be used for hosting applications in MZ and
DMZ which shall not run on virtualized
environment.
132 DR for Proposed
Setup
65 a. DR of SAP and non-SAP database has
to be configured using the native
application aware replication
methodology of the respective
applications.
b. The replication of all the Virtual
Machines are to be configured using
storage based replication. Any
software/utilities/ licenses required to
achieve the same, shall be provided by
the bidder.
The points a. and b. mentioned in the section seem to be self
contradictory. While in the point a., it is mentioned that
database need to use their native capabilities for replication
with the DR site, point b. at the same time that replication
needs to be a storage replication, which obviously cannot be
native to a database, neither can it be database aware.
Does BCPL here mean that,"the databases for SAP and non-SAP
has to be configured using the native application aware
replication methodology of the respective applications and the
non-database artifacts lying within the virtual machines are to
be replicated using storage base replication"?
Modify points a. and b. as "the databases for SAP and
non-SAP has to be configured using the native
application aware replication methodology of the
respective applications and the non-database
artifacts lying within the virtual machines are to be
replicated using storage base replication"
Both sort of replications are required as per RFP.
133 C.5 Database
for non-SAP
applications
140 Offered database is to be configured in a
virtual server having 6 cores which shall
be used as production server.
Please remove the figure "1", from the Qty column and modify it
to "in accordance with to the number of cores"
As mentioned in the left column Unit of measurement is Lumpsum (LS). Hence,
quantity is kept as 1.

134 Database for
non-SAP
applications
140 The offered database license shall be
server / processor / core based for
unlimited number of internal / external
named / concurrent users and for
unlimited data volume
What is expected to be the total number of application users
accessing the non-SAP database(s), in the next 3 years? From
the RFP's it seems that it would be accessed by a set of internal
users. In such limited user scenarios, it is beneficial for the
customers to go for user based licensing metric rather than
unlimited user, because it is cost effective without disturbing
the compliance
Request BCPL to evaluate, and if found suitable,
please change this clause to "The offered database
license shall be server / processor / core based or
user based ensuring that the license compliance is
maintained"
No change.

110 A.2 Link Aggregators / Load-Balancers DNS Support As per RFP page no 60, there is already external DNS
server in the scope. Adding DNS functionalities to
load balancer would add unnecessary cost to the
project. We request to delete the lines.
System should support operating as an authorative DNS server
in standalone as well as cluster/HA configuration.
System should support resolving External host names to internal
IP addresses, External (NAT) IP addresses.
System should support responding various DNS query types like
Host Record, A Record, MX record etc.

Both the UPS has to be configured in-parallel for

the outputs will be separately distributed to each
