Little LEAPsLittle LEAPs will meet only once in July and once in August. The group — for children from birth to 3 years old and their parents/guardians — will meet this month at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, at Rowe Park in Onalaska for a “clean up and play” service project. And mark your calendar for August — Little LEAPs will meet at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 31 in room 102 for an end-of-year celebration. We welcome newcomers all the time — join us! TONI GROSHEK IN CONCERTWorship song leader Toni Groshek of La Crosse will perform songs from her debut album, “Red Light — Green Light,” at a CD release concert at 7 pm Sunday, July 27, at Olivet Lutheran Church on French Island. The concert is free; CDs will be available for purchase for $10. The digital album is available online at Amazon, iTunes, Spotify and CD Baby.

SUNSHINE BOYSThe Sunshine Boys meet at First Lutheran on the first Thursday and Friday of each

month to help with outdoor or indoor projects; in August they will meet on Fri., Aug. 1 and Thur., Aug. 7 at 9am. Rolls and coffee will be supplied each day. You pick the day that works for you. Helpers can come both days if they wish.

BAPTISMAL PREPARATIONA baptism preparation session will be Saturday, Aug. 2, at 10 am in the narthex for anyone who is considering or has scheduled a baptism. RSVP to the church office and contact the office with any questions: [email protected] / 608.738.8354.

vacation bible school!This summer, VBS is Sunday, Aug. 3, through Thursday, Aug. 7, from 5-8 pm each day. Come join in the fun! VBS is for kids ages 3 (and potty trained) through those entering 6th grade in the fall. Register online at: 2.firstlu.org/vbs.

The OWLs will kick August off with a potluck on Wednesday, August 6th at noon, in the fellowship hall. For the program Brian will talk about his photography hobby, with hints on how to take better photographs.

9th Grade Girls RetreatWednesday, Aug. 13, 7:30 pm at The House. Girls who will be entering high school in the fall are invited to enjoy a movie, have late-night pizza, and have your questions answered by girls already in high school. Devotions and breakfast in the morning. Pick up time 9:30 am. RSVP to [email protected].

JONATHAN RUNDMAN IN CONCERT!Minneapolis-based folk/pop songwriter Jonathan Rundman will be performing a free, outdoor concert at First Lutheran on 410 Main Street in Onalaska, WI on Saturday, September 6th. First Lutheran’s Praise Band opens at 5:30pm and Jonathan Rundman and Band take the stage at 6pm. Free and open to the public, all ages welcome! Save the date and invite EVERYONE!

REMEMBERING PASTOR GRANTThis past week First Lutheran received word from the synod office about the death of our brother in Christ, Ordean L. Grant. Pastor Grant died Tuesday, July 22, at 81 years of age. Pastor Grant served two congregations in this synod, first as an associate pastor at First Lutheran in Onalaska from 1982–1988 and then as pastor of St. John Lutheran in Alma. He retired from the ministry there in January 1997 and has spent most of his retirement years in St. Charles, MN. The funeral service for Pastor Grant was Saturday, July 26, at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. Keep his family in your prayers.
