The problem:

Majority of the victims of the car crash die due to delayed medical help. The reason for loss of about 60% of peoples lives in such cases is absence of people at the site of the car crash who would be able to provide first aid, and delay in arrival of the ambulance, etc. Majority of people who may be at the site of the crash are not able to provide first aid, and are not ready to act in emergency situation. In case of serious injury, absence of immediate qualified help increases the likelihood of death : within one hour – by 30%, within 3 hours – by 60%, within 6 hours – by 90%. In such instances the most critical is the ability to provide first prior to arrival of the medical help.

Increase the level of the practical skills of the medical staff who provide first aid assistance.

Draw attention of the public to the problem of absence of practical skills among population

Lower the rate of death or handicap during various stages of provision of the first aid assistance

Inform public about possibility to take courses in the first aid in medical centers

Help the Ukraine since-practical center of emergency assistance and catastrophes to improving the technical equipment base

Purpose of the Project:

Specific input of this Project:

Assistance to the Ukrainian science-practical center of emergency medical assistance and catastrophe medicine in acquisition of equipment (purchase of body model) and also equipment of the study room for learning the first aid assistance.

Development and printing of the modern learning materials: books, booklets, posters, etc.

Making a film for practical study of the first aid assistance for the schools, medical offices, etc.

Learning to the general public in the practical skills of providing first –aide assistance.

Expected result of the project:

Improve the quality of education provided by the centers of first-aid education.

Additionally about 500 persons would be able to learn the practical skills of first aid.

Improve the quality of first aid assistance provided by the employees of medical centers and employees of other public and emergency services.

Increase awareness of the public as to the need to learn first-aid skills

Lower the rates of death due to timely medical assistance.
