announcing the 2017 quilt drawing · the many shades of purple and lavender in the “lavender...
TRANSCRIPT
The many shades of purple and lavender in the “LAVENDER GRACE” QUILT remind us of the royalty of
Jesus and the variety of graces God sends into our lives. St Paul speaks of the “Aroma of Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:14) According to legend, When Mary laid baby Jesus
clothing on the lavender bush to dry, it received the scent. This may explain why the plant is sometimes
considered a safeguard against evil and a cross of lavender was hung over the door of some Christian homes.
The quilt flowers echo words in Song of Solomon 2:12 “The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has
come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land.”
