BYOB. If you wish to participate in the Midnight Champagne Toast

BYOB of Champagne! There will be a Contest for Best New Year's Hat

with prizes. Bring a noisemaker too!! Guests are $10. Pick up a flyer at

From the Helm – December, 2019

Dear Sailing Single Members,

It is with enormous sadness that I must inform our

members that Patrick O'Brian, captain of Irish

Rover, has passed away.

He has been a long time member of Sailing Singles

of South Florida. Our sympathy goes out to all who

loved him and his family.

I will always remember Patrick fondly and have

wonderful memories: having martinis with him, his

laughter and his flirtatious manner.

When a sailor has died, he or she can be honored

with the sounding of eight bells; meaning "end of

the watch". We performed an 8 bells ceremony for

him on Thursday, December 19th at 7:00 PM at Flip

Flops.

Winterfest Boat Parade and Land Party

We had a Boat Parade and Land Party at Savor Cinema at the John Mager Courtyard. LOTS of food, as usual,

and then a short walk to Smoker Park to watch the Boat Parade. Huge thanks to John Mager for the free

parking and the use of the facility!
