CONCLUSIONS: ADDITION OF ANY OF THE EVALUATED GRAMINICIDES SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED THE LEVEL OF INJURY TO THE SOYBEANS OBSERVED ON WEEK AFTER APPLICATION. THE SOYBEANS OUTGREW ALL INJURY SYMPTOMS BY 21 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION. LATER APPLICATIONS OF FOMESAFEN CONSISTENTLY RESULTED IN REDUCED LEVELS OF WEED CONTROL. WEED CONTROL WAS NOT SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED BY USING TURBOCHARGE INSTEAD OF AGRAL 90 + 28% UAN. FOMESAFEN + THIFENSULFURON PROVIDED EXCELLENT CONTROL OF ALL WEEDS EVALUATED, HOWEVER, INITIAL CROP INJURY RATINGS WERE ALSO INCREASED. AT THE TIME OF THIS APPLICATION THE SOYBEANS WERE EXPERIENCING DROUGHT STRESS AND COLD NIGHT TIME TEMPERATURES. BY 14 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION INJURY SYMPTOMS WERE NO LONGER APPARENT. THE EXTENT OF INJURY DUE TO CHLORANSULAM-METHYL TREATMENTS WAS EQUIVALENT TO THE INJURY CAUSED BY BAS 35140 AND CONSIDERABLY LESS THAN THE INJURY CAUSED BY ACIFLUROFEN AND FOMESAFEN. CHLORANSULAM-METHYL AT ALL APPLICATION TIMINGS GAVE EXCELLENT CONTROL OF VELVETLEAF AND RAGWEED. CONTROL WAS SUPERIOR TO ACIFLUROFEN AND FOMESAFEN. THE EARLIER APPLICATION TIMING WAS MUCH LOWER. CHLORANSULAM-METHYL GENERALLY GAVE POOR CONTROL OF LAMB'S-QUARTERS. EARLY APPLICATIONS OF ACIFLUROFEN, AND ALL APPLICATION TIMING OF BAS 35140 GAVE SUPERIOR CONTROL OF LAMB'S-QUARTERS. NUMERICALLY QUIZALOFOP-ETHYL PROVIDED THE BEST CONTROL OF VOLUNTEER CORN IN THIS TRIAL, WHICH IS CONSISTENT WITH RESULTS FROM OTHER EXPERIMENTS. SETHOXYDIM PROVIDED THE POOREST CONTROL OF VOLUNTEER CORN. THE LEVEL OF VOLUNTEER CORN CONTROL DID NOT DECREASE APPRECIABLY WHEN THE RATE OF FLUAZIFOP-P-BUTYL AND QUIZALOFOP-ETHYL WERE REDUCED. FLUAZIFOP-P-BUTYL PROVIDED THE POOREST CONTROL. THE LEVEL OF GREEN FOXTAIL CONTROL DID NOT DECREASE APPRECIABLY WHEN THE RATE OF QUIZALOFOP-ETHYL, FENOXAPROP-P-ETHYL, AND SETHOXYDIM WERE REDUCED.
