Annual Christmas Party The Annual Children's Christmas Party was held on Saturday 12th December. After a small pageant and singing carols Surfing Santa Arrived and presented over 70 children with gifts and sweets. A delicious meal was then served and enjoyed by all . A great tradition kept alive in the village. Thanks to all who helped in any way. Thanks to Lado Ruzicka for compiling the Rainfall Chart Local Happenings Some residents do not receive mail at the Mail Agency and therefore don't receive letter drops etc advising of goings on in the village. A suggestion that a box at their front gate would alleviate this problem. We could then identify these residents. and deliver flyers etc. Our new website has a calendar of events and is updated daily. This annual event was revamped last year and was very successful. A fantastic day was had by all. Volunteers are needed on the day and donations of prizes will be greatly appreciated. Come along ,

************************** Recreation Ground Trust

Work is continuing on improvements to the hall as time permits. New guttering, facia etc has been purchased, weatherboards are being primed and erected, toilets, tank and front and sides of the hall has been painted and new guttering on the toilets.

Bees decided to make their home in a tree on the recreation reserve and be-came qu ite active during the prepara-tions for the Music Festival. Greg Ison obliged to deal with the bees and remove them to a good home. Thank You Greg.

Os and Ivy Stuart’s band played at Majors Creek and throughout the district for many years. These signs which were d isplayed by the band have been preserved and framed by Mr Guy Hayes and are now placed permanently on the end wall of the Majors Creek Hall. Little is known of the reason Stewarts was spelt that way, only that it may have been the original spelling.

MELBOURNE CUP AT THE HOTEL A great day was had by all who attended . Best dressed was Dennis and Denise Griggs from Araluen. The ladies looked swell in their great array of hats. Well done everyone.

ABBA An Abba night was held at the local hall on Saturday 31st October.

Greatly en joyed by all , yummy food, great dancing, prizes and give aways.

Proceeds of the night went to the hall funds. Thanks to all.

TENNIS COURTS After some months obtaining grants and funding for a new tennis court and arranging the construction it is now a reality. The courts have now been completed and were officially opened by the member for Monaro Mr Steve Whan on Saturday 12th December Many thanks to the com-mittee for their work and to all who contributed in some way, without the support and help of the community these projects don't happen. Funding came from

Mullwarre Trust, Cortona Mines, State and Federal Governments, Bendigo Bank and the Community of Majors Creek.

Barbecue at the Music Festival The Majors Creek Progress Ass Inc again ran the barbecue other the weekend of the festival. A very substantial profit was made which will benefit pro jects

in the village. Many thanks to those who organised and purchased the food for the barbecue and to those many people who gave their time to help over the

week end. A great effort and thank you all.

Christmas Hamper. A Christmas Hamper in aid of the Hall and Progress Association will be drawn at the Hotel on Christmas Eve. Tickets $2-00 are available at the hotel.

Raffle Cortona Mines have donated 3 Gold Nuggets from a West Australian Mine to raffle for the Majors Creek Progress Ass Inc. The nuggets have been made into drop stud earrings and pendant. Tickets are available at the hotel and selected business house in Braidwood. Will be drawn at Braidwood Race Day February 2010. Thanks to Cortona.
