PREZ SEZ Fall has arrived, the leaves are starting to change color and nights are starting to get a little colder. That can only mean that one thing. SKIING/BOARDING Season is right around the corner!!!! Whoo-hoo!!!! The Lancaster Ski Club had its first Membership of the year on Sept. 17, 2020 and we would like to thank all of those that came out to our meeting. Those that came out were ready to start talking about something that we all enjoy. Skiing and Boarding. The meeting was started with a moment of silence In Memory of John “Curly” Russell. Curly will surely be missed, what a great skier and friend. There was a lot of good conversation about our upcoming trips and skiing/boarding in general. Hopefully, we will see more of you at the Thursday October 15, 2020 meeting. Meeting check in will start at 7:00pm. Kirk Lesser gave an update on Roundtop with a lot of Q & A afterward. As more information becomes available about Roundtop, Kirk will keep us updated at our monthly membership meetings. I would like to thank the many of you that brought the new LSC Health Form along with you. It made a smoother transition to get checked in. Another thanks to everyone that attended on a great job of social distancing throughout the evening. We had one person join the club that night and another new member that had just joined the club Online. Thank you for joining the Lancaster Ski Club and attending your first Membership meeting. Looking forward to having you joining us on upcoming trips. The Lancaster Ski Club Board had to make another difficult decision this month. The Annual Ski Club Auction will be replaced this year with multiple fundraising opportunities throughout the year. Kris Miller will be leading all fundraising opportunities for the club. Please check the website on the upcoming fundraiser. The first fundraiser will be a Lancaster Ski Club Christmas Ornament. For you to purchase this ornament Online we will set this up as an event on our website. You will also be able to pay by check made payable to the Lancaster Ski Club and sent to Kris Miller’s home address. All proceeds from our fundraisers will go toward our Special Olympics fund and other charitable organizations. Thanking you in advance for helping to continue to support the Special Olympics and other charitable organizations of the Lancaster Ski Club. Looking forward to seeing everyone at our Membership Meeting on Thursday October 15th!! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, thoughts, or ideas. Please stay healthy and safe until we meet again, Jon Doman Lancaster Ski Club President [email protected] or 717-572-3457

Trip Committee Update The Trip Committee is wishing you all a healthy, safe and Ghoulish October!! This sure has been an exceedingly difficult year to plan trips. After much discussion between the Trip Committee and the Lancaster Ski Club Board we had to make some sound decisions regarding our trips for this year. With the unknowing of the border situation to Canada and various states having self-imposed quarantines, etc. the following changes have been made to the trip line up for 2020-2021. The Red/Schweitzer trip scheduled for the 2020-2021 season is going to be rescheduled for the 2021-2022 season. As soon as we have more details on dates, we will let you know the new dates. The Powder Mt./ Snowbasin March 13-17, 2021 trip is now priced at $1369.00pp/ dbl. occ. This trip will now have everyone arriving to the PHL Airport providing their own transportation. We have a direct flight out of PHL at 5:45pm on Saturday afternoon. There are only 28 seats for this trip and the trip will open to members from other clubs. So now is the time to sign up for Utah trip before the trip sells out!! Utah is one of the few states that does NOT have any type of quarantine in place for visitors coming into their state. The Trip Committee is still working on pricing for our one-night trips. When priced these trips will be sold as drive to the mountain/s trips. Bus transportation will not be provided. It will also allow people to extend the trip if they wish to do so. The planning of day trips will run as bus trips at this time. Jon is working on a list of what you can expect from various ski resorts this year that will be presented at the October Membership meeting on Thursday October 15, 2020 and then this information will be posted on the ski club website. There are quite a few of changes happening at almost every ski resort this year. Knowing these changes will better help you have a more pleasant mountain experience. Please note: Trip leaders will not room any more than two people per room and will do their best to room those without requested roomies; single supplement fees may be implemented for those that do not have a roomie or do not get assigned one. Trip Insurance is highly recommended for all trips!! Any questions concerning trips, the trip application or sign-up policy? For now, please contact either: Jon Doman, [email protected] or 717-572-3457 or David Pelland, [email protected] or 717-725-1406 Think Snow!!

Lancaster Ski Club

Expresses It's Condolences To The Family Of

John Russell “Curly” AKA John Russell passed away September

4th, at the age of 90. Curly was an iconic member. He joined the Lancas-

ter Ski Club when he was in his 60’s and started skiing. Curly owned the back of the bus with a

glass of wine in hand, always skied till the end of the day, followed by Jamison, cigars, dancing and

closing the bar. He did it with a smile and better at it than most of us. We will deeply miss him.
