LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Topics will be presented which relate to the clinical treatment vascular surgery patients. Presentations will focus
on best surgical practice and expert opinion. At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. Describe alternative treatment modalities for paravisceral and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms (TAAA)
with the available endovascular devices available.
2. Recognize the lack of availability of endografts designed specifically to address paravisceral/TAAA; and
recognize that this is emerging therapy and long-term durability must be conclusive.
3. Critically evaluate the indications for perioperative cardiac evaluation in patients undergoing non-cardiac
surgery.
4. Discuss the importance of autogenous dialysis access vs prosthetic access and describe techniques how
to preserve failing autogenous access and avoid tunneled catheters.
5. Recognize how a collaborative regional database can be used for quality improvement in clinical practice;
and propose new ideas for future quality improvement projects.
6. Describe various percutaneous endovascular techniques for revascularization of complex infra-inguinal
arterial occlusive disease.
