Visits by the experts It is the effort of the above agency to invite expert or a person who is deeply

associated with the disability. In the last year, society invited 5 experts from CRC

8

Sundar Nagar (Mandi), Blind School Dhali (Shimla) and from other NGOs associated with disability .these experts meet with our CWSNs and their parents and discusses the various problems associated with these children. These experts also give tips to our special educators; providing different services to the adopted children. Experts also through light on different issues related to disability, they also provide valuable information and guidance to the office bearer of the NGOs, providing home based education programme for CWSNs. Thus the visits of good expert is a asset to our NGOs, we are gathering considerable knowledge from the expert who visited our centers time to time in a previous year.

Sports and co-curricular activities In a week, one day is fixed by the agency in the home based programme for

sports and co-curricular activities. There is a playground near to the office of NGOs running the home based education programme, we bring these children to the ground where our special educators play with these CWSNs sometimes we invite sports coach of particular game ; who gives valuable knowledge to our CWSNs and staff. In the last year, our CWSNs participated in local sports fair, district level sports competition and state level sports competition organized at different locations in Himachal Pradesh. Academic Achievements In fact, it is difficult to make these CWSNs aware with some language, math and science, but without the knowledge of these subjects; we cannot make them self -reliant. Our special educators are providing academic knowledge to our CWSNs as per their level. We are facilitating teaching learning with the modern designed teaching aids to these children. Sometimes our special educator prepares teaching aids and teaches the concept with the help of teaching aid. Some of children are learning with good pace, similarly our efforts are to make aware all children as per their level under this programme. We conduct quarterly evaluation scheme for these children to be evaluated for academic and non-academic activities. We submit the whole process to our DIET.

Facility for MR certification Our agency has made efforts so that Mental Retardation (MR)/IQ assessment could be conducted at our district hospital; for this work we met the district authority and explain the problem of the people who are associated with MR ;as in our district there is no facility of MR assessment/IQ We peruse the matter and now district authority is working to engage a competent private practitioner to assist with the medical board for a one day in a month so that individual can avail facility of IQ testing in a district hospital. It was the result of continued efforts of our NGO to provide above facility. Last year we assist more than ten parents in assessment and certification of cwsns.

Pension/Scholarship benefits In fact Government is providing numerous facilities for the people associated with disability, but in a rural area due to lack of education, mass media and counseling our rural mass is unaware about these facilities. Our NGO organized door to door programmes in which we counsel the guardians/parents or the person associated with disability regarding the various facilities providing by the Government under various schemes to the persons with disability. As a result, we receive number of phones from the people regarding their problem; sometimes we approach the problem of these individual to some official and thus solve the problem faced by person with disability.

Service to other CWSNs In the previous months, we have started providing home based services to the CWSNs who are not enrolled in this programme. It has to be decided due to continued
