Headline: Here’s The One Thing An Abused Child Can’t Tell You

Subhead: Helping Weld County’s Most Vulnerable Citizens Speak Out

In Weld County, a potential child abuse incident is reported every 30 minutes. Each case leaves a child in its wake,

full of dark insecurities and empty of the small joys and innocence that kids deserve.

National studies show that the 4,800 Weld County cases reported last year may reveal only 10% of actual cases.

A Kid’s Place is unique in that we are the only agency in Colorado that is home to both a Child Advocacy Center and a

CASA Program. Our efforts create a safe passage from being a victim, to being a child again. We hear their cries… and

we listen.

Child victims of abuse and neglect can begin to understand that what happened to them was not their fault. It is

here that the healing can begin, and the pain can begin to fade. They begin to see that there is hope for a life free of

neglect and abuse and they are on a pathway to healing.

At A Kid’s Place, abused children become active participants in their own well being. We stand by the children and

help them see a brighter future for themselves. Your support gives children a voice and gives them hope for a better

tomorrow.

A child abuse victim can’t tell you why they were abused, but because of you and A Kid’s Place, finally they can see a

brighter future.

Court Appointed Special Advocate Program

Child Advocacy Center

The Child Advocacy Center

provides a child-focused

environment to gently support child

victims of sexual and physical

abuse and their non-offending

family members. The Center

encourages a coordinated

response to the investigation,

prosecution and treatment of child

abuse.

CASA, which stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, recruits, screens,

trains and supervises volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children

involved in the court system to help secure a permanent, safe home.

CASA volunteers are appointed by a judge to work first, last and always in the best interest of the child at the heart of a case.

Child Advocacy Center

11A Kid’s Place “Giving Abused Children a Voice”

Multidisciplinary Team Approach (MDT)A functioning and effective multidisciplinary team approach (MDT)

is the foundation of a Child Advocacy Center. An MDT is a group of

professionals who represent various disciplines and work

collaboratively, from the point of the reported abuse, to assure the

most effective coordinated response possible for every child. The

purpose of interagency collaboration is to coordinate intervention

and investigation so as to reduce potential trauma to children and

families and improve services, while preserving and respecting the

rights and obligations of each agency to pursue their respective

mandates.
