BroncoFusion Committee

Division of Student Affairs Committee www.cpp.edu/~broncofusion

Mission Statement The mission of BroncoFusion is to provide entering students a rich experience that will encourage their connection to Cal Poly Pomona and the tools and resources that will facilitate academic and personal success within their new academic home.

Committee Chair(s) Erin DeRosa, Program Coordinator, Orientation Services Sharon Rocacorba, Interim Senior Coordinator, Student Life, Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers

Committee Overview • Provides a multi-day welcome event for new and returning students providing opportunities to explore the

campus; take care of business; connect with faculty, staff and other students; get a head start on locating their classes and learn about ways to get involved

• Allows the entire university to participate in enhancing the transition of first year students through a club and support services fair, college connection activities and open houses

2015-2016 Accomplishments • Streamlined events to differentiate the BroncoFusion experience from the Orientation experience • Implemented a registration and check-in system to allow us to track and assess involvement • Partnered with University Athletics to showcase athletes, games, and school spirit

2016-2017 Major Initiatives • Reassess and identify ways in which the academic colleges can be involved in BroncoFusion, such as

including them in a “convocation” style event • Reconsider the “vision” of BroncoFusion with Orientation Services becoming more robust • Provide students with more “hands-on” experiences and opportunities to get to know others

Key Challenges • Funding to meet increasing costs associated with the event (enrollment growth, concert, logistics, security) • Rosh Hashanah fell in the middle of BroncoFusion and we had to divide up the week as not to conflict with the

holiday • Differentiate students’ BroncoFusion experience from their orientation experience
