Accomplishments
• Increased undergraduate enrollment of
underrepresented, high achieving, international and out-of-state students by engaging school districts and professional associations, and collaborating with state and federal Department of Education affiliates
• Qualified all 10 Intercollegiate Athletics teams for the CCAA and/or NCAA playoffs & Men's Soccer finished as the NCAA National Finalist (a program best)
• Increased employer attendance at 2015-2016 career fairs by 20% over 2014-2015 career fairs with 750 organizations attending career fairs
• Completed construction to address safety and ADA compliance including a new Children’s Center entrance, the office, the restroom and conference room with observation windows
• Created department guidelines and procedures manual to align with Federal, State, and CSU laws for use by Disability Resource Center staff, faculty and students
• Implemented new Financial Aid regulations to administer the Dream Loan Program to provide additional resources for undocumented students
• Continued growth of One-Stop technology to serve students (Service Now, Website, Social Media) • Revamped online Orientation to meet the needs of diverse student populations, including veterans, international,
and out of state • Piloted a 3-day integrated and comprehensive freshmen international student orientation before the beginning of
the fall quarter in collaboration with UHS, International Center, and Admissions & Outreach • OSLCC collaborated with Title IX office to implement comprehensive awareness program and bystander
education for all student clubs and organizations • Completed construction on an 1,825 space parking structure, a 500 space paved overflow parking lot and a 174
space temporary lot to handle additional parking needs • Converted to electronic format using the onBase workflow that streamlined the submission and processing of 5
enrollment-related form requests for students • Worked with EH&S to create a safe environment at the Rose Float Lab including weekly safety orientations,
proper safety attire and the creation of a full time safety coordinator • Facilitated an office name change from "Judicial Affairs" to "Student Conduct & Integrity" and location move to
better align our office mission and values, and to more effectively support student rights • Provided 18,124 health and wellness appointments, responded to 2,031 urgent care visits; provided services to
58 survivors of sexual harassment & abuse, dating/domestic abuse & stalking • Expanded EOP capacity of summer transition programs through an 8% increase in Summer Bridge and a 47%
increase in Transfer Bridge participation • Implemented enhanced College Theme Learning Communities programs and assessment with Student Success
& Completions Initiative funding ($100,000.00) from the Chancellor’s Office • Restructured ASI's Leadership Team due to significant expansion of the organization; decentralized operations
for improved workflow and reorganized reporting relationships • Managed successful leadership transition with new Chief and Lieutenant, graduated a cadet from police
academy, and hired two lateral police officers to fill longtime sworn staffing vacancies • Established the Veteran Ambassador program within three academic colleges: Engineering, Business, and
Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences

Major Initiatives • Utilize technology that facilitates 24/7 access to Admissions and Outreach services and processes • Evaluate and Implement Phase II of the Scolinos Stadium Project, which will include new backstop, fencing,
and dugout renovations • Update Career Center technology by adding Portfolium and GoinGlobal, and reviewing our Symplicity Software • Children’s Center will partner with College or Education and Integration Studies students for practicums and
classroom observation • Develop a comprehensive, interactive online orientation tool for students using Blackboard to incorporate
consistent administration, tracking, and reporting functionality • Broaden Disability Resource Center services to students to include individualized plans designed to proactively
address successful retention, graduation, and overall student success • Implement new software technology to assist with document scanning and verification of financial aid files for
early awarding • Establish Enrollment and One-Stop Peer Mentor program • Pilot a Veterans track at a 1-day Transfer Orientation, in collaboration with the Veterans Resource Center to
meet the specific needs of veterans • Explore ways to utilize OSLCC technology to present training to our student organizations to ensure that our
organization recognition process is compliant with all Chancellor's Office Executive Orders • Evaluate and implement a parking guidance system on campus that will direct students, faculty and staff to
available parking lots through dynamic signage and the use of a smartphone app • Convert University enrollment records to reflect a semester-based academic calendar; collaborate with the
Division of Information Technology to align technological enrollment systems and processes • Create a partnership with an academic college and Rose Float in line with the CPP mission statement with the
hopes of creating partnerships and increasing engagement • Will review processes and procedures to improve case turn-around time, work flow, and adherence to
continuously changing and updating Executive Orders • Create and implement Survivor Advocacy Services policies and procedures to ensure consistent practices
across campus • Increase specific and intentional interventions to 5th and 6th year EOP and RS students to decrease
underrepresented minority, the graduation gap and time to degree • Expand upon the College Theme Communities to include a transfer learning community and undeclared
learning community and continue to refine assessment of student success indicators • Prepare and position ASI for change in senior leadership and reporting relationship to incoming VPs for Student
Affairs and Administration, Finance and Strategic Development • Implement Lexipol, a web-based policy development and training system, to update department policy manual to
align with current law, law enforcement policies and reduce institutional risk • Initiate the development for a Cal Poly Pomona Veterans Alumni Chapter

Key Challenges • Balance enrollment targets with student demand, campus capacity and external trends at the regional, national
and global levels • Identifying and securing external support for Athletics facility/capital improvements • Finding more ways to inform and engage students in career readiness including career development and
outreach throughout their academic time at Cal Poly Pomona • Ensuring consistent and adequate funding for Children’s Center as grant rules and regulations change and new
student leaders are elected annually to the ASI senate (budget approvers) • Developing Disability Resource Center’s outreach programming to address the increasing occurrences of
behavioral concerns related to students diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum • Managing the increased administration of Federal and Institutional financial aid programs while ensuring a
proper workload distribution amongst the staff • Establish One-Stop with limited institutional resources and infrastructure to accommodate a growing department • Working within the constraints of limited institutional resources and infrastructure to accommodate Orientation
program and space needs of a high number of very large component of programs • Addressing the needs of underserved populations on campus including Middle Eastern students, Interfaith
students, and Multiracial/Biracial students • Develop strategies to encourage use of alternative transportation to help accommodate enrollment growth and
subsequent increased parking demand • Continue progress in current initiatives while focusing on the Quarter to Semester Conversion Project, including
developing additional electronic forms and streamlining graduation-related processes • Fundraising effort to build the new rose float lab that serves the needs of Rose Float organization as well as the
university • Manage increased volume in crisis cases and interim suspensions resulting from threatening issues, including:
disruptive behavior, sexual assault (Title IX), self-harm, violence, and drugs • Insufficient technology resources to meet the operational need of Health & Wellness, Survivor Advocacy
Services and Counseling Services • Securing funding to meet the increasing unmet financial need for all of our EOP and RS (including our AB 540
students) who are historically low income while the EOP grant funds remain the same • Maintaining full residential occupancy with widely fluctuating enrollments • Addressing the state of BSC as an aging facility with building systems exceeding their estimated life, code
compliance challenges and space allocation issues • Successfully managing organizational change and continue to provide seamless law enforcement and service
delivery amid department reporting changes, campus restructuring and reorganization • Expanding programming and resources for student veterans with funding that is provided to a large extent by
grants

student success • Revamp the men of color initiative for first year African American & Latino male students to help increase their

2015-2016 Accomplishments • Collaborated with Title IX office to implement comprehensive awareness program and bystander education for all
student clubs and organizations members • Planned and executed overnight leadership retreat for student leaders on campus and used myBAR data to create
reports that assist with assessment of student engagement & its connection to student success • Monitored and provided support/resources for students each quarter that accessed the Cultural Centers with a
grade point average below 2.0

2015-2016 Accomplishments • Worked with EH&S to create a safe environment at the rose float lab including weekly safety orientations, proper
safety attire and the creation of a full time safety coordinator • Increased media presence with Rose Float; multiple newspaper articles, live news interviews and the creation
of a rose float documentary • 2016 float entry, Sweet Shenanigans, won the Lathrop K. Leishman Award from the Pasadena Tournament of

2016 -2017 Major Initiatives • Create a partnership with an academic college and Rose Float in line with the CPP mission statement with the

Mission Statement The Office of Student Conduct & Integrity is responsible for administering the California State University standards for student conduct. The office promotes standards of behavior that support Cal Poly Pomona's mission, vision and values of learning, responsibility, integrity, inclusiveness, and excellence. The office impartially administers a disciplinary process that protects student rights, upholds the integrity of the academic community, and fosters ethical development.

Cal Poly Pomona Children’s Center’s primary mission is to serve student-parents who are attending Cal Poly Pomona University by providing them with on campus, accessible, affordable, and quality year-round preschool. Our program also provides services for Cal Poly Pomona staff and faculty as well as Community members. Our program strives to provide individualized, developmentally appropriate learning activities in a safe and nurturing environment which allows and encourages children to explore and engage in positive educational experiences while their student-parents fulfill their educational goals and dreams.

Department OverviewEnrolls up to 85 children in a year round program that serves children ages two to six years old with flexible scheduling based on parent need and 21 children in Kids University, a summer program for school age children. Promotes growth and development of all children through the development of oral language skills, phonological and print awareness, alphabet, math and science knowledge, critical thinking and problem solving skills and social emotional awareness using research-based curricula. Complies with all title 22 and title 5 licensing regulations and is an NAEYC accredited program.
2015-2016 Accomplishments• Completed construction to address safety and ADA compliance including a new Children’s Center entrance, the
office, the restroom and conference room• Added one-way viewing windows and audio systems to two classrooms to facilitate Early Childhood Studies
(ECS) students' classroom observations• Provided professional development for all staff through sessions at the California Association for the Education
of Young Children (CAEYC) professional development conference in March of 2016
2016-2017Major Initiatives• Partner with ECS faculty to meet the needs of the College or Education and Integration Studies students for
practicums and classroom observation• Implement new curriculum model while simultaneously providing professional development, training and support
for teaching staff to ensure a seamless transition• Cultivate potential donors to raise funds for a new Early Childhood facility enabling us to serve more CPP
student parents and provide better accommodations for ECS students
Key Challenges• Ensuring consistent and adequate funding as grant rules and regulations change continuously and new student
leaders are elected annually to the ASI senate (our budget approving group)• Aging facility and infrastructure with inadequate space for teaching, administration, storage, student practicums
and clinical observations and volunteers• Providing classroom coverage to allow adequate time for lesson planning and professional development

Mission Statement Parking & Transportation Services is dedicated to maintaining accessible and attractive parking facilities, managing parking resources efficiently so that students, faculty, staff and visitors are able to park conveniently, maintaining commuter programs, promoting transportation alternatives and reducing parking demand.

Department Overview • Manages parking enforcement and appeals, Bronco Express and Metrolink Connect Shuttles, Rideshare,
vanpools, Visitor and Information Booth and parking lot maintenance for 12,121 spaces in 28 surface lots and 1structure
• Serves over 450,000 shuttle riders and 90,000 visitors through the Information Booth; manages daily parking forapproximately 24,000 students and 2,400 faculty and staff; and enrolls and serves over 600 Rideshare membersper year
• Other special services include commute planning, vehicle assists, safety escorts, and conducting traffic control
2015-2016 Accomplishments• Enhanced the Bronco Express Shuttle services by identifying and implementing route efficiencies and providing
additional service to the overflow lots and Innovation Village• Researched, procured and implemented the use of new smartphone ticket-issuing technology with real-time
downloads of citations, higher quality photos and better reporting• Completed construction on an 1,825 space parking structure, a 500 space paved overflow parking lot and a 174
space temporary lot to handle additional parking needs2016-2017 Major Initiatives• Develop and begin implementation of a 10 year capital asset management plan to identify resource allocation,
construction, renovation and maintenance needs for all 28 parking lots and both structures• Evaluate and implement a parking guidance system on campus that will direct students, faculty and staff to
available parking lots through dynamic signage and the use of a smartphone app• Coordinate and consolidate staff and services (where feasible) with University Police to avoid duplication of effort

increase in Transfer Bridge participation• Secured and maintained scholarship funding for EOP and increased Renaissance Scholars scholarship and

represented minority, the graduation gap and time to degree• Expand our capacity to meet the demand and needs of low income, under-represented students admitted by the

Key Challenges• Securing funding to meet the increasing unmet financial need for all of our EOP and RS (including our AB 540
students) who are historically low income while the EOP grant funds remain the same• Increasing number of impacted majors and the implications for undeclared students to declare their major of
interest by the end of their first year• Accessing detailed data related to our student populations through direct access to the student database or an
assigned systems analyst

2015-2016 Accomplishments • Achieved the best back-to-back quarterly academic performance in department history with consecutive 3.07
cumulative 3.07 GPAs in Fall 2015 and Winter 2016 • Qualified all 10 Intercollegiate Athletics teams for the CCAA and/or NCAA playoffs & Men's Soccer finished as the
NCAA National Finalist (a program best) • Upgraded Scolinos Baseball Field by installing lights (first time in 56-years), a new scoreboard (first in 30 years) and
Kellogg Arena w/ "BroncoVision" (16' x 9' Jumbotron) installed - first in the CCAA
2016-2017 Major Initiatives • Evaluate and Implement Phase II of the Scolinos Stadium Project, which will include new backstop, fencing, and

Department Overview • A fully sworn police and public safety department certified by the State of California • Provides 24/7 public safety services including: continuous dispatch services, 9-1-1 call reception, alarm
monitoring, and communication services • Provides campus patrol, problem solving response, investigation of crimes, and crime prevention education • A well-defined campus Emergency Management Plan with several hundred trained faculty and staff members
2015-2016 Accomplishments • Managed successful leadership transition with new Chief and Lieutenant, graduated a cadet from police
academy, and hired two lateral police officers to fill longtime sworn staffing vacancies • Completed Dispatch 9-1-1 upgrade funded primarily by the State Office of Emergency Services and the
Emergency Operations Center (EOC) buildout to a fully functional facility • Successfully managed safety and security for several large scale campus events, including the Presidential
Investiture, Chancellor White visit, and other enforcement related incidents
2016-2017 Major Initiatives • Implement Lexipol, a web-based policy development and training system, to update department policy manual to
align with current law, law enforcement policies and practices, and reduce institutional risk • Initiate new and expanded community policing and outreach efforts via social media (e.g. twitter, nixle), hosting
outreach events, and increasing targeted programs (e.g. housing events, department trainings) • Hire highly qualified Emergency Services Coordinator and integrate into police and campus operations to ensure
smooth transition and continued campus readiness for emergencies and major incidents
Key Challenges • Successfully managing organizational change and continue to provide seamless law enforcement and service
delivery amid department reporting changes, campus restructuring and reorganization • Meeting the growing campus needs with stagnant department staffing - sworn and professional - despite
increased enrollment, student residents, facilities, and emerging issues (e.g mental health, marijuana) • Collaborating with Title IX Office to continue to operationalize system wide policy, ensure compliance, refine
communication, roles and responsibilities, protect rights and confidentiality, and minimize risk

2015-2016 Accomplishments • Streamlined events to differentiate the BroncoFusion experience from the Orientation experience • Implemented a registration and check-in system to allow us to track and assess involvement • Partnered with University Athletics to showcase athletes, games, and school spirit
2016-2017 Major Initiatives • Reassess and identify ways in which the academic colleges can be involved in BroncoFusion, such as
including them in a “convocation” style event • Reconsider the “vision” of BroncoFusion with Orientation Services becoming more robust • Provide students with more “hands-on” experiences and opportunities to get to know others
Key Challenges • Funding to meet increasing costs associated with the event (enrollment growth, concert, logistics, security) • Rosh Hashanah fell in the middle of BroncoFusion and we had to divide up the week as not to conflict with the
holiday • Differentiate students’ BroncoFusion experience from their orientation experience

Mission Statement The Division of Student Affairs Staff Recognition (STAR) Committee is charged with selecting and recognizing staff members within Student Affairs, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI), CPP Foundation who distinguish themselves in their performance and contributions to the Division and University though exemplary work.

Committee Overview • Honors the accomplishment of outstanding employees who distinguish themselves in their performance
and contribution to students, the Division and the University through quarterly and annual recognition • Markets, recruits and coordinates the selection of STAR award recipients each academic quarter • Provides opportunities for managers and staff to nominate colleagues for divisional recognition
2015-2016 Accomplishments • Sustained visibility of STAR awardees through campus marquee announcements, desktop backgrounds,
updated website, and award presentations at worksite and TLG forums • Encouraged and reinforced division of Student Affairs values through promotion, applications and selection
of STAR recipients • Streamlined nomination process through well-defined online form
2016-2017 Major Initiatives • Reassess and revamp program to be part of the Professional Development Team • Assess and review Campus Labs survey results to develop initiatives to revitalize program and add value
to nominations • Involve and encourage previous awardees to participate in nominations
Key Challenges • Ensure nominations provide enough supporting details to aid in the evaluation process • Encourage participation by all departments to provide adequate number of nominations • Enhance the program so the award has added value and is respected by staff
