ANNUAL REPORT (2016-17)
The college reopened its portals to welcome all its faculty and
students for a fresh academic year on 6th June 2016.
The Principal warmly welcomed the faculty members as well as the
Second year B Ed students and once again reminded them that
sincerity and consistency would fetch them successful results in
this course. She encouraged them to put in their best at every
activity that would be organised in the college.
On the 21st June2016 our student
celebrated Yoga day in collaboration with
Oriental College of
Pharmacy.
As part of the DLLE
conducted extension activity, the first
term training program for our students
were arranged on 26th July 2016.
Luminaries from DLLE, Field Co-
ordinators and other eminent
personalities from the University graced this occasion.
Accordingly, curricular and co-curricular activities were well
synchronised to ensure optimum growth for the learners. Apart
from the theory papers at the third semester level, the first activity
that our students were a part of, were the Independence day
celebrations held on the 15th of Aug, 2016. The onus of

arranging this function was put on the Oriental College of Pharmacy
and our SY B Ed students put up the following events :
A patriotic group song Fashion show depicting the rich cultural
heritage
of India
To
celebrate
the bonds of love that bind siblings, the Rakhi
making competition was held in 20th Aug 2016 for our SY
students
'A Teacher touches eternity... one can never tell where his/her reach
ends...'. Thus to honour our
teachers and thank them for
all they do, a Teachers
day
celebration was held on 5th Sept
2016. Cultural programs and citations were presented
on this day .
A competition to make eco friendly Lord Ganesha statues was held
in 10th Sept 2016. Our students used materials ranging from
fruits to leaves to paper etc to make these idols

The Hindi Divas celebrations were conducted on 14th Sept 2016 ,
wherein our FY and SY students spiritedly competed and recited
humorous poem in Hindi by renowned poets. the activity not only
generated a sense of pride for our national language but also drove
home the fact that language when creatively used could induce
various emotions in the listener.
To commemorate the birth of the father of our
nation, the Gandhi jayanti celebrations were
held on the 1st of Oct 2016. Here students
presented Songs and skits based on Mahatma
Gandhi and his philosophy.
On the 1st
of October, 2016, our 30 First
year students were
formally welcomed to the
institution.
To showcase the talent of our FY
students a Talent Search program was conducted on the 6th and
7th of Oct 2016. The rich repository of talents ranged from
singing to cookery to recitations to paintings to photography!
As part of the Internship program of our S Y students , a Literacy
awareness program has to be arranged in the community on
various life related themes. As part of this activity, our students

presented skits, workshops, games, expert talks etc on themes
that had its spread from environment to lifestyles to investments
etc
A jubilant welcome was accorded
to our FY students by the SY students
at the Freshers Party on
8th October 2016. It was an
event rife
with fun and frolic with games,
dance and entertainment . The SY
students truly ensured that this
memory would be etched in the
minds of their juniors for years to come.
To celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our nation,
the Diya decoration competition as well as lantern
making contest on the 15th of October 2016.
Tastefully decorated diyas and exquisite lanterns
made from waste material were the rich
handiworks of this exercise.

'Peace comes from within, do not seek
it without...' truly embodied the
theme of our National Seminar titled
" .... In pursuit of Inner Peace" which
was held on 22nd Oct 2016. Providing
a forum for sharing instances,
strategies, experiences and acts of Pioneers of peace was the chief
objective we desired to achieve through this endevour.
It was a confluence of the 2 main
religions of India that marked the joint
festivities of Diwali
and Eid , in our
institution, on the
27th of
October 2016.
Recitation of ghazals, dances, songs and sharing of sweets were
the highlights of this event.

One must learn to give back to society and
share with their lesser fortunate brethren to
alleviate their sufferings. In this context a
week long visit to the inmates of NASEOH at
Chembur
was organised for our FY B Ed
students. Each day a specific
amount of time was given to meet and
spend time with physically and
mentally challenged people and to
gain an understanding of how they make their living in this
institution. Empathy and gratitude were the takeaways from this
enterprise.
As part of the course requirements, , our F
Y students staged Street plays outside the
Sanpada
Railway station
on the 3rd of Dec 2016 on socially
relevant themes.
Making creative use of 'Best from Waste' to make
innovative torans was held on 10th Dec 2016.
Students tapped their creative juices to make
amazing torans.

An event to celebrate food was
organized on 17th Dec 2016.
Snacks, starters, juices, fast
foods, street foods and many
such delicacies were the pick
of the day.
The fun continued as our students
let down their hair and enjoyed
to the hilt at the Picnic
organised by the college to
________________ . It was a day where all had a good
time.
An educational trip arranged by
Trailblazers in Jan 2017 , had 35 of our SY
students participating. Tips on organising
games for education were shared with the
students.

The annual Sports day was celebrated on 2 days - ie 29th and 30th
Dec 2016. Group events such as kho kho,
kabaddi, Throw ball, and individual events such as
sprints, throws, carrom etc were well culled out.
The event motivated all to put in their best and provided an
exercise for both the body and mind.
The haldi kunku cum Makar
Sankranti celebrations were organized
on the 14th of Jan 2017.Students were
draped in the traditional nauwari and
they applied the auspicious haldi-
kunku to the married women of our
college. A traditional cultural celebration was organzed and it
ended with the distribution of tilgul by wishing one and all 'til gul
ghya god god bola'
The Republic day celebrations ate Oriental
education society on the 26th of Jan 2017
saw our SY students in a new role...
They put up a performance of Lezim Drill
which was well appreciated by all.

An expert talk on 'Cancer awareness' was
arranged by FORTIS, Vashi and Hiranandani Hospital
on the 18th of Feb 2017. Presented by Dr Shishir
Shetty, it proved useful for our students.
Marathi Asmita was celebrated with pride and
enthusiasm on the 27th of Feb 2017. The
various hues and shades of the
Maharashtrian culture were suitably
glorified through rendering the powada,
the depiction of the mangala gaur and
through the powerpoint presentation that
traced the glory of the culture from its nascent stages.
To sensitise society towards the many faces of exploitation of a
woman at her work place, a Symposium on 'Sexual
Harassment of Women at the Work Place' was
conducted under the aegis of the Women's
Development Cell of our college on the 27th of Feb
2017.
Later that afternoon, a skit depicting exploitation and emancipation
of women was staged by all our students.
The Caption coining contest for the college magazine was held for
our FY students on the 4th of March 2017, to induce creative use of
language. Although there were many entries, a few such as '
lamhe' 'reminiscence' etc were the pick of the lot.

Finally, a poster making contest on women related
themes in Feb 2017. The posters made truly
reflected the voice of women
and also showcased the creative
talents of our students.
Our students also made us proud at various inter-collegiate
events....
In Jan 2017 , at the UDAAN Festival put up by DLLE
at the Bharatiya Vidyapeeth
Bhavan, our students put up a
spirited performance in the street
play as well as the poster making competitions .
Once again at the Jallosh festival organised by the HB B Ed
college our students won several awards... Sourav
Debnath won the first place in poster
making while our group singing team
comprising Bilkish, Manju,
Shaista,Shraddha, Rajni , Pushpkala and Priya won
the 2nd prize.
The District level Sports meet was held this year at the AI's Akbar
Peerbhoy College of education on the 3rd and 4th of Feb 2017.
Our students made us proud by wholeheartedly participating and

winning accolades for our college. The following

The National Science
day was
befittingly observed
by visiting the Science
Day Exhibition at the HBCSE on the 28th of Feb 2017. The
students spent the day relishing the applications and blessings of
Science that were on display at the venue. A truly educative
experience!

The Principal and Faculty of our college too, were not far behind in
acquiring accolades inspite of their very hectic schedules. The
following are their accomplishments:

had been a member on the Selection panel Committee of SK
College of Education, Ghansoli on 19.07.16 and Oriental
college of Education, Sanpada (13.12.16) She had been a member of the LIC committee of Rizvi College
of Education (27.07.16), Royal college of Education (09.08.16),
Shahapur B Ed college (15.02.17) Authored a paper titled My Strategies: Peace Within
Oneself which was published in the Scholarly Research Journal
for Humanity, Science and English language (SJIF : : 2015 :
3.801 , ISSN 2348-3085) Authored a paper Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar : the Messaih
which was published in an International Peer reviewed and
referred Scholarly research Journal for Interdisciplinary studies
(ISSN 2278-8808) Had Adjudicated the program on 'Gender parity' at AI's Akbar
Peerbhoy college of Education, on 8th March 2017
Ms Swarnlata Soni attended a 1 day Symposium under the aegis of the Women’s
Development Cell titled Sexual harassment of Women at
the Work Place held at OCE on 27.02.2017

Was part of the Organizing team for the Seminar on ‘In
pursuit of Inner Peace' conducted by Oriental College of
Education on the 22nd of October 2016 Authored a paper titled My Strategies – Foster Inner
Peace by nurturing Emotional Intelligence which was
published in the Scholarly Research Journal for Humanity,
Science and English language (SJIF : : 2015 : 3.801 , ISSN
2348-3085) Attended CAP as an assessor for Economics and Commerce
methods at the B Ed University Examinations (Sem I)
Ms Savita Upasani
proactively attended the following orientation programs in the
month of June 2016: Practicals Orientation held on the 22nd of June 2016 at the
University of Mumbai. EPC 3 held on 23rd June 2016 conducted by the Board of
Studies, university of Mumbai. Course 8 section 2 - held on 24th June 2016 at Guru Nanak
College of Education Ms Savita Upasani authored a paper titled Inculcating Inner
Peace in the next generation which was published in the
Scholarly Research Journal for Humanity, Science and English
language (SJIF : : 2015 : 3.801 , ISSN 2348-3085)

Ms Upasani attended a month long RUSA sponsored
Orientation Programme conducted by the UGC at the Academic
Staff College, University of Mumbai in the month of Feb 2017 Ms Upasani and Ms Pratibha Kambli jointly attended a Training
Programme conducted by the Maharashtra State commission
for women on the theme ' Sexual harrassment of women at the
work place' on 14th Feb 2017 Ms Savita Upasani and Ms Pratibha Kambli jointly organized a 1
day Symposium under the aegis of the Women’s Development
Cell titled ‘Sexual harassment of Women at the Work Place’
held at OCE on 27.02.2017
Ms S D Mudshingikar : was the Organizing Secretary along with Mr Ketan Kamble in
the Seminar on ‘In pursuit of Inner Peace conducted by
Oriental College of Education on the 22nd of October 2016 Authored a paper titled Five Quintessentials for Peace
which was published in the Scholarly Research Journal for
Humanity, Science and English language (SJIF : : 2015 : 3.801 ,
ISSN 2348-3085) Attended CAP as an assessor for Course 2, 3.2, Science and
Mathematics methods and moderator for Course 2 and 3.2 at
the B Ed University Examinations (Sem II)
Ms Pratibha Kambli : Was selected as a member of the External Examination
Squad for the B Ed University Exams by the University of
Mumbai.

at the ASC , University of Mumbai. Ms Pratibha Kambli and Mr Ketan Kamble were Sports Co-
ordinators at the District level B Ed Intercollegiate Sports Meet
held at AI's Akbar Peerbhoy College of Education on 3rd and
4th February 2017
Mr Ketan Kamble : Participated in a short term course entitled 'Contemporary
strategies for Teaching and Evaluation' from 13th to 19th Oct
2016 authored a paper titled Biblical approach to experience
Peace which was published in the Scholarly Research Journal
for Humanity, Science and English language (SJIF : : 2015 :
3.801 , ISSN 2348-3085)
The non teaching staff and support staff too chipped in at
every event be it curricular or co curricular to ensure that all
activities were accomplished with precision and finesse.
Kudos to the entire team at OCE!
