I. Departmental Overview
Department of Information Technology started the journey in the year of 2000 with 60 seats underUniversity of Kalyani. From 2001 onwards the UG program has been affiliated by West BengalUniversity of Technology and since inception it is affiliated by AICTE. Dept. of IT has framed andpracticed its own curriculum and syllabus under Autonomous framework as JIS College of Engineeringconferred Autonomy in the year of 2011. In the line of thought of the JIS Group “Igniting mindsempowering lives”. The department has been working with a dual goal of Research & Development andIndustry Institute Initiative upon a strong foundation of learning centric environment. Department ispredisposed to its stake holders to provide ‘Excellent Teaching Learning in Technical Education’ and tofoster the Engineering Knowledge to all the students of the Department of IT. Department has beenpracticed ‘NextGen’ Teaching Learning -- ‘Flip Learning’ methodologies for imparting the excellentquality teaching learning to the students.
To achieve this goal we have tied up with IIT-Bombay, IIT-Madras, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Wipro andother renowned organizations via our institution. This Department has produced thousands ofprofessionals who consistently excelled in the fast-changing IT environment. The greatest asset of thedepartment is its highly motivated and learned faculties. The department is very actively pursuingresearch in diverse fields of IT world ranging from security, image processing, mobile applications, wireless networking and others. Amidst a relatively young department, the departmental facultymembers contributed their works collectively in important research forum like IEEE, ACM, Springeretc. Continuous encouragement from the Authority of the Institution enabled the young faculty membersof the department to attend and contribute in various conferences, symposiums, seminars and workshopsorganized by various international forums like IEEE CS Society, IEEE ED Society. The facultymembers are involved in Professional Society Activities and associated with various research forums. On the other hand, guided by the Institution Authority the departmental Faculty members are associatedin establishing/ participating/ conducting different value addition programs such as, NPTEL, IIT-Bombay Spoken Tutorial Program, QEEE program and lots more. The department is eagerly expectadvice / guidance / suggestions from everyone so as to work out its weaknesses and can satisfy theInstitutional needs and desires in a better way.

To be very specific I find myself to be the luckiest person forcompleting my B.Tech Degree in Information Technologyfrom JIS College of Engineering. College provided uswonderful environment and healthy campus for studying. Asour college is autonomous institute, the syllabus and coursestructure was very much upgraded. Apart from academics, ourdepartment on behalf of our college used to conduct variousseminars related to our background, which encourage us tolearn beyond our syllabus. Our teachers were highlysupportive and helped me a lot in gaining knowledge and justbecause of them my curiosity for computer and softwarerelated technology increases gradually. Nevertheless, collegealso conducted sessions on Group Discussion, Aptitude whichhelped me a lot in getting job from college. These four yearswas one of the best part of my life. Completing andhaving B.TECH Degree in Information Technology from JISCollege of Engineering was the best decision I could evermade. No matter how much I write about my college anddepartment, I will always run short of words. LONG LIVEJISCE, LONG LIVE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATIONTECHNOLOGY.

Departmental Overview
Our department of Information Technology of JIS College of Engineering started journey in the year of2000 with 60 seats under Kalyani University. After foundation of West Bengal University of Technologyit was been under WBUT. Now the department is under autonomous framework as JIS College ofEngineering achieved autonomy in the year of 2011.
Amidst a relatively young department, the departmental faculty members contributed their workscollectively in important research Forum like IEEE, ACM, Springer etc. Continuous encouragement fromthe Authority of the Institution enabled the young faculty members of the department to attend andcontribute in various conferences, symposiums, seminars and workshops organized by variousinternational forums like IEEE CS Society, IEEE ED Society. The faculty members are involved inProfessional Society Activities and associated with various research forums.
On the other hand, guided by the Institution Authority the departmental Faculty members are associatedin establishing/ participating/ conducting IBM Centre of Excellence, IBM TGMC Program, Oracle DBAdmin Workshop, Infosys Campus Connect Programme, WIPRO Mission 10X Learning Approach andMicrosoft Faculty Connect Symposiums.
The department is eagerly expect advice / guidance / suggestions from everyone so as to work out itsweaknesses and can satisfy the Institutional needs and desires in a better way.

Not every student is lucky to have a department like us which does so manythings for us like preparing us for a career, transitioning from students toprofessional, and establishing a love for lifelong learning. I feel lucky enoughto have gotten such teachers who not only completed the exam syllabus butwere also there for us whenever we needed their support.
Aditya Rathi ITC Infotech I feel so fortunate and blessed to be a part of IT family as a student who gotso much care, guidance, affection and knowledge from such a wonderful setof resourceful and well-versed faculty members whose unconditional andunceasing support to every student never allowed any to go astray fromtheir goal. I am proud to belong to our department.

Suman Das Zensar To be very specific I find myself to be the luckiest person of having chosenthis Department for my undergraduate studies. The department left nostone unturned in brings out the best of myself. This is the place where mypassion for technology was understood and it was given a new direction. Ihave always dreamt about computer oriented technology earlier but afterbeing a part of this department I got the opportunity to implement it. No,matter how much I write about my dept I will always run short of words. Myteachers care more like our parents and frank just like our siblings. I prayalmighty to bless them with the best of everything. LONG LIVE IT.
Shilpi Das Amazon I consider the department of Information Technology of JISCE to be the bestdepartment. Choosing IT-JISCE allowed me to achieve my dream of studyingEngineering and has equipped me with a lot of knowledge that will help inmy future career. I’m highly grateful to my department.
