TITLE: Success Deck A Mock Placement Drive
VENUE: Virtual
DATE and Time: 04-08-2020 to 08-08-2020
Annual Report – IEEE ComSoc 2020
Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru Page7 | 13
Number of participants: IEEE: 27 Non IEEE:173 Total: 200
Details of Resource person: All the members of IEEE COMSOC society and some faculty
members of EEE department.
Panelists: Aakriti Suman, Abhigya Parashar, Adarsh B U, Akhilesh Patil, Annada Shukla,
Hema Thota and Prakruti P Kumar
Brief Description:-In order to check one’s preparation towards the same and offer a fulfilling
experience of a mock placement, we- from IEEE Comsoc- decided to conduct 'Success Deck' for 2nd and 3rd-year students from any college.
Professionals from IT sectors were soon reached out to, in order to make the event as good as an actual
placement drive. Three rounds were soon decided: one to test the aptitude and technical skills, one to check coding skills and the last to interview candidates in person. Every round was an elimination round
which thus forced everyone to do equally well in all stages.
Round 1:
Over 200 participants excitedly registered to test their prep. Comprehensive assessments on candidates' aptitude, technical skills, logical reasoning, cognitive abilities and quantitative analysis were made and
questions were thus framed.
The round took place on 4th of August from 3-4 pm on Google classroom, where the participants were bombarded with challenging questions having close options, code snippets and crossword puzzles as
well! The results were declared the same evening, and the top 60 candidates had made it to the 2ndround.
Round 2:
A round mainly to test the DSA concepts of participants, the second round took place on hackerrank,
wherein candidates were asked to code on a few problems for which 3 hours was allotted. It was on 5th of
August, where their expertise in basic concepts of conversion from binary, hexadecimal and decimals to
graphs and pattern creation were tested.
The top 15 students from this round qualified to the last round.
Round 3:
This was the last round for which the qualified 15 submitted their résumé prior to the interview held on 8th of August. The interview was held online on Google meet, alike any other interview likely to be held in the near future.
For this round, we had a panel consisting of professionals from various backgrounds. The panellists included Aakriti Suman, Abhigya Parashar, Adarsh B U, Akhilesh Patil, Annada Shukla, Hema Thota and Prakruti P Kumar. They contributed enormously for the success of the event while coming up with
questions on basic concepts which tested the understanding of the candidate. The panellists and candidates were divided into 2 teams for convenience and the top 3 were settled through immense deliberation, as the competition was tough and close. We finally came up with not 3 but 4 winners, with
the 3rd place tied between two.

The winners include Nishan first place, Guru Kiran on second and both Shiva Swaroop and Trivikram on the third. The other contestants not only received a participation certificate but also comprehensive
feedback and tips on facing interviews from the panellists. They have also now gladly agreed for a webinar to help all students.
The success of the event is not only attributed to the Comsoc team lead by the chair Shreshtha Mehrotra
and secretary Neehar Chandavarkar, but also Dr Shobha KR, a professor in the department of Electronics and Telecommunications, who has served as a backbone and inspired us throughout.
WINNERS First Place Nishan M N (MSRIT Telecommunication Engineering)
