2017.
Gesture of Gratitude:
I would like to express my profound gratitude to our college Management, our Respected
President .Datto.N.Vasantha Rajan, our beloved Secretary Thiru.N.Rameswaran and our beloved
Secretary – Arumugam Pillai Seethai Ammal College of Education, Thiru.N.Arumuga Rajan, for
the timely and valuable suggestions so that I could steer the college in the right path and in the
right direction. At the same time, I will be failing in my duty, if I do not mention the co-operation
extended to me by our teaching and non-teaching staff. I have to thank my loving children –
students who are my strength and power. I am deeply indebted to the team of Vice-Principals
Dr.N.Ramani, who is completing her 7th year as Vice-Principal, and Dr.GV.Gopinath, who is
completing his 3rd
year term respectively who had spent more time in the college than with their
families. Their dedication to the college is commendable.
With a view to promote the educational attainment in this backward District and also to
alleviate the unemployment problem due to the lack of educational qualifications, Arulmamani
Thiru. N.T.S.ARUMUGAM PILLAI started this temple of learning in the year 1965 by pooling
his hard earned money on a foreign soil.
His philanthropic foresight has brought out this First Grade College offering
undergraduate courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Computer Science,
Information Technology, Economics, History, English Literature, Business Administration,
Commerce, Post Graduate courses in Economics, English, Commerce & Mathematics, M.Phil
courses in Economics, English, Commerce, Ph.D in Economics, Diploma Courses in Personnel
2
Management & Industrial Relations, Office Management and Certificate courses in Spoken
English.
Our management has started Arumugam Pillai Seethai Ammal College of Education by
offering B.Ed., program from 2006-2007. The dream of our Founder to provide higher education
to the needy people has been successfully completed by our former President
Thiru.N.A.R.Nagarajan. The dream of providing opportunities to do professional courses has
been successfully fulfilled by the sons of Thiru.N.A.R.Nagarajan, by starting Arumugam Pillai
Seethai Ammal College of Education.
I am also very glad to inform that the Economics Department of our college has been
upgraded as a Research Department from 2006-2007. The Departments of English, Maths,
Commerce & Business Administration Departments have also been upgraded as Research
Department from 2012-2013. The college is registering a steady and continuous growth year by
year. This achievement is made possible by the unstained efforts taken by our revered Founder
and its illustrious sons and grandsons.
STUDENTS STRENGTH:
Even though arts and science colleges have registered a decline in students‘ strength due to
the upcoming of a number of professional colleges, the strength in our college is always on the
increase because of the quality of teaching of our untiring and elite staff aided by campus
discipline. This year, we have 2261 students of which 1524 are girls and 737 are boys.

LIBRARY
The General Library has taken various initiatives to improve the existing infrastructure
facilities, services and collections to provide strong and dynamic support for academic & research
development. The library caters to the needs of over 2000 students, teachers and other visiting
faculty. In this regard, some of the selected initiatives are listed below:
Collection Development:
The library is a power house of resources that generate knowledge. Arumugam Pillai Seethai
Ammal learning Resource centre has a well-equipped library with a vast collection. The library
has a collection of about 34322 books. Basic to advanced books are added every year for the users
of the library. Library has grown in terms of it collection of books. Number of books, during the
academic year 2016-17, has increased from 3418 to 34322. The library this year spent Rs.23255
on purchase of books and Rs.56394 spent for periodicals and dailies.
E-Resources:
The Resource Centre operations and services are fully computerized and provide an online access
to the core digital resources in the ICT area. Through Institutional membership more than 6000 e-
journals and 97000 e-books can be accessed under the project entitled "National Library and
Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content (N-LIST)" of INFLIBNET Centre,
Ahmedabad. In addition to this the library also has a collection of e-books.
11
The centre aims to facilitate production & dissemination of knowledge, information, insights &
intellectual contribution in all areas of education among the academic and business
community. The library provides open access system for the users including students, research
scholars and faculties. In addition to the above central facility, the departments have their own
libraries.
Library Automation
The library has adopted latest technologies for quick processing. The library resource centre is
fully automated. It is computerized by using Modern lib user- friendly library software and the
entire collection of books is bar-coded.
The barcode printer in the library is used for printing the accession number of the books which
would be scanned during books transaction and the barcode scanners are used in the library to
scan the barcode of the books during issue and return of books.
ID scanners record the entry of users into the library. It is used for calculating the daily report of
users visiting the library. The students and faculty members can have access to more than 450
back volumes and 405 Question Bank.
The number of books, periodicals and e-books are updated every year. We have provided 50 more
seats to make it easier to find a good place to study. Wider workplace and separate quiet zones
has been created. Set up displays to highlight new collections and materials. To maintain
cleanliness inside & and outside the library and provide suitable atmosphere for reading and
searching. Fire extinguisher has been installed.
CCTV cameras are installed at the library to monitor and record clear images of all visitors as
they enter and exit the library and to protect rare books and displays with cameras directly
monitoring them.
Library Activities:
Extramural Lecture Program on ―User Awareness on Access to Library Resources‖ was
organised on 19.8.2016 along with Department of Botany. Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan, Librarian,
