A total of 36,927* students, alumni, & employers received assistance at Career Services this year as a result of the programs & outreach provided to students, alumni, employers, faculty, & the community. Eighty-four percent of students & alumni were satisfied or very satisfied with services received.

These services, delivered one-on-one & remotely, coupled with web content helped students & alumni reach their career goals. The graph to the right illustrates the number of audiences served & associated delivery method.

Internship programs exist in all eight colleges on campus & involve faculty internship coordinators working to support the blending of academic & “real-world” experiences for students. A total of 4,057 unique students participated in experiential education courses including internships for a total of 24,135 credit hours.

Applying skills learned in the classroom, coupled with the work ethic of our Aggies, creates well trained, critical thinkers employers are looking for.

Career Exploration programming includes: assessment instruments, one-on-one interpretations with specially trained career coaches/peers, presentations to small & large groups, & a career exploration course (PSY 1220). Career Services provides & interprets various career exploration assessments for a total of 11,312 uses of these career tools including FOCUS2, Myers-Briggs, & Strong Interest Inventory.

Before each on-campus orientation, freshman take FOCUS2 to assess interests & skills before meeting an academic advisor.

From on-campus recruiting to fairs/expos, the majority of career employment preparation takes place in the form of one-on-one career coaching & customized presentations to over 8,985 students.

During the 2015-2016 recruiting year, 175 organizations participated in on-campus recruiting, resulting in 1,167 interviews. One-hundred thirty eight organizations held information sessions reaching 2,760 students.

Career AGGIE is Career Services’ online job posting & networking system. Students have access to over 14,000 employer contacts posting over 15,100 jobs last year. Posted positions include: student employment opportunities, work study positions, internships, entry-level openings, & positions for experienced alumni.

Career Services is a founding member of Rocky Jobs which allows employers to post jobs on rockyjobs.org - reaching 17 schools with a single posting, expanding opportunities for students.

Career Services supports students continuing education by providing information about graduate school & health professions with over 100 schools from across the nation on-campus this year. A particular emphasis on applications & personal essays is part of the coaching provided. There were 4,767 tests given in the areas of undergraduate & graduate admissions, exams for credit, placement, & certification exams. Students applying for Graduate Health Professions programs succeed at above average acceptance rates due to hands on advising, interviews, & customized letters of recommendation.

Social media is an important networking/recruiting tool utilized by students & employers. As of Fall 2015, employers surveyed by the National Association of Colleges & Employers reported using LinkedIn (92.6%) & Facebook (73%) as recruitment tools. With over 7,800 in the Alumni LinkedIn group & over 1,450 followers on Facebook & Twitter, students are encouraged/coached to build effective networks.

Assessment & Evaluation

The staff at Career Services is actively involved in leadership of regional/national associations in addition to benchmarking with other key audiences to assess trends. Each Career Coach maintains relationships with key constituent groups both on- & off-campus including all academic colleges, departments in Student Affairs, employers, & professional organizations.
