President’s MessageIt has been a great honor to serve as the President of South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation Board of Directors. On behalf of the Board members, SCC faculty,

staff and students I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the individuals and businesses that contributed time, resources, equipment and monetary gifts to ensure affordable educational opportunities exist in our community.

SCC Faribault Campus Foundation had an eventful year building off the 2015-2016 Fund Drive slogan: Giving. Builds. Futures. Stephen Pribyl, Fund Drive Chair, led the efforts of 38 community volunteers to raise over $153,000. Thank you to all who supported the foundation through your generous gifts and time. One hundred twenty-eight deserving students received the gift of a scholarship to support their desire to enhance their skills and talents at SCC in order to impact the future.

South Central College hosted its first National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day in February. This event honored students entering a technical field and celebrated strong technical careers. It was a pleasure to be a part of this inaugural event and have the opportunity to interact with such a great group of students. It is exciting to see the caliber of talent committed to furthering their education at SCC, that will join the workforce with all the necessary skills needed in our community.

Thank you to all who continue to provide support to the Foundation’s mission of supporting higher education and training at SCC. We had a successful year because of the support provided by many individuals and businesses. For those currently involved and engaged in the Foundation, thank you. For those looking to make a difference one scholarship at a time, please connect with the Foundation. I am sure you will find it a very rewarding experience.

Points of Pride• The Foundation committed nearly

$130,000 in scholarships to Faribault campus students for 2016-17.

• Presidential Scholar Hamdi Abdi from Owatonna High School began her second year at SCC and was joined by Gerrit Hoffner from Dundas. Both students receive free tuition for two years to pursue their degrees at SCC; Hamdi in Associate of Arts and Gerrit in Computer Integrated Machining.

• In FY15 the South Central College Faribault Campus Foundation provided a $5.03 return on investment for every $1.00 of public funds invested by South Central College.

• MRG Tool & Die employee gifts were matched by the company during the fourth annual Corporate Alumni Campaign. Their gifts with match have raised nearly $25,000 for Machining student scholarships.

• One endowment was established and two were finalized to provide scholarships from the interest earned.

Endowed FundsEndowments can be established to support scholarships or general initiatives of the college and provide annual support using the interest earned. A gift of $10,000 is the minimum to set up an endowment. Gifts can be made all at once or over a three year period.

• Expanding the donor base and fund-raising strategies• Increasing net assets and endowment funds• Increasing the number and amount of student scholarships• Establishing a sufficient staff to support
