FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

Dear Parishioners, Welcome Back! The sun may be still be shining and warm, but the season of autumn is definitely here, resulting in changes to our environmental surroundings. I believe that we, too, will be experiencing changes in our own lives - a time to get back into routine, a time for "normal" living.

At Holy Cross we are preparing and resuming our usual Parish activities and events and introducing some new ones. For example, in this bulletin you will find the following information: • Annual Salmon BBQ: on Sunday, September 14th . (It is also the

Feast Day of the Holy Cross). The celebration will begin with children's activities in the afternoon, followed by the BBQ ... Please join us!

• Notification of dates as to when the different Ministries are beginning their Programs.

• NEW! ! : Introduction/Implementation of Electronic Sunday Envelope Donations: Please read insert in bulletin (both sides)

Another "new" item is welcoming our Assistant Pastor, Fr. Robert Ufland, SDS. He was born in 1981 in Poland and comes from a family of 6: Dad, Mom, an older brother and two younger sisters. After finishing high school, he joined the Polish army and then worked for a couple of years before entering the Salvatorian Seminary in 2005. Upon his ordination in 2012, he worked as an assistant pastor in St. Hedwig Basilica in Trzebnica, Poland. He also taught religion in the local high school, worked as editor of the parish bulletin called "Harvest" and was in charge of various youth groups.

He comes from the mountainous region in Poland, so there is no surprise that he likes hiking, skiing and ... bowling.??? Fr. Robert is very happy to be in our parish. That said, he is still very overwhelmed with the new language, customs and traditions. Let us ALL welcome him to our Holy Cross community and assist him in any way we can! In the next bulletin, I will be sharing with you the renovations that have taken place over the summer. Again ... Welcome back to "normal' living ....

Fr. Maciej Wos, SDS Pastor
