Conestoga College acknowledges its legal and ethical obligations as outlined in the 2005 Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and continues to strive towards a fully accessible environment by 2025.

Initially introduced as a means of addressing and eliminating systemic barriers faced by people with disabilities, the act is comprised of standards and regulations that impose specific obligations on businesses in the areas of customer service, employment, information and communication, transportation, and built environment. 2015 marks the ten-year anniversary of the act, and accessibility at Conestoga College has seen a tremendous growth in its commitment to accessibility. The recognition that accessibility is a commitment that must be embraced at all levels and by all facets of the organization has led to collaborative efforts that have yielded notable achievements. Conestoga College further endeavors to make its learning, living, and working environments accessible to all persons with disabilities, and seeks to do so in a manner that most respects the dignity and unique circumstances of each individual.

Over the last several years, the college has made considerable strides in the area of accessibility. As a demonstration of the fact that the commitment to accessibility is a college-wide initiative, there has been an emphasis on employee training and development. Additionally, the college has placed a high priority on generating accessible online material, including improvements to the online learning platform used by all faculties. The physical accessibility of the campus has also been improved, including the installation of accessible staircases, bathrooms, and the building of a new accessible library. The achievements thus far exceed what can be mentioned in an introduction, and are elaborated upon in this report, and only serve to further remind the college that accessibility is a work in progress; that full accessibility is not only ethical but mandatory; and that it must continue to remain a priority when making all decisions. Please read of our accomplishments to date.
