Welcome to our College where we are committed to recognising every child’s talents and nurturing them, enabling them to go on to realise their aspirations. This year we celebrate the many successes of our students at GCSE and A Level. We are incredibly proud of the part that we have played in securing these outcomes. A great example of what St Mary’s has to offer can be seen in the success of Ellie English in securing a place to study Experimental Psychology at University College, Oxford following her A*, 2 As and A* in her Extended Project. Her parents wrote to thank us for the part we played; “It’s sad to think St Mary’s will no longer be part of our life anymore, it has played a really significant part in making Ellie the child that she is, through inspirational teachers who have stretched her and got her to believe in herself”. I am proud to lead a staff who can have such a dramatic impact on the lives of young people. Ellie is just one of many success stories. You can read about the academic success of other students, for example, Emma Campbell with her 2 A* and an A, who will study Law at King’s College, London, later on in this booklet. We are also conscious that there are other skills, experiences and personal attributes that our young people need to develop in order for them to become employable and have the values that will enable them to become valuable members of the local and global communities. To enhance this further this year we are launching our St Mary’s Experience which will include our 18 by 18 challenge to all our students in which we identify non curriculum based challenges for every student to achieve before they leave us at 18. As we embark on our first full year in partnership with St John Plessington as part of the Holy Family Catholic Multi Academy Trust, there has never been a better time to be a St Mary’s student. Welcome to our College where we are committed to recognising every child’s talents and nurturing them, enabling them to go on to realise their aspirations. This year we celebrate the many successes of our students at GCSE and A Level. We are incredibly proud of the part that we have played in securing these outcomes. “It’s sad to think St Mary’s will no longer be part of our life anymore, it has played a really significant part in making Ellie the child that she is, through inspirational teachers who have stretched her and got her to believe in herself”.
