ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL TOY DRIVE

IN THE BOOKS

Information obtained from www.guardiansofthechildren.com

How did you get into volleyball? Kim: I started playing because my sisters played! After I graduated high school, my former varsity coach gave me a call and asked if I’d coach the Frosh B team at Hale! I ended up coaching at Hale for 11 years. Amanda: I was actually a huge soccer player until I was 14. It was my dream to be a professional soccer player, but my older sister played volleyball so I watched her all the time. The tomboy in me wanted to play any sport I could. So, I gave it a try and turned out to be pretty good and love it more than soccer. Reality was, I had to choose anyway because where I grew up, soccer and volleyball were in the same season in high school. The coaching aspect of volleyball is part of who I am. Once I left playing the sport, I wanted to stay close to it and coaching was the way to do that!

What advice do you have for someone who is just getting started in volleyball? Kim: “Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.” –S. Becket Amanda: Not everything is going to work the first time you try it. Just keep doing it the way you’re being taught, and with hard work and practice, you’ll get it! Where is your favorite place to travel? Kim: Travel is a big priority in my life and I’ve been lucky to see a lot of places! Each place is special in its own right. Maui is magical and Moab made me fall in love with the mountains. I’ve got a lot more to see! Where did you grow up? Amanda: I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio but FUN FACT I was born in Vermont! I moved to Milwaukee in 2010 to attend Marquette University.
