Question 3
MarksAnswerNote
(a)1Making the right inference
The mass affects the inertia / Jisim mempengaruhi inersia.
(b)1Building an appropriate hypothesis
The bigger the mass, the bigger the inertia / Semakin besar jisim, semakin besar inersia.
(c)(i)1Stating the aim of the experiment
To investigate the relationship between the mass and the period of oscillation.
Untuk menyiasat hubungan antara jisim dan tempoh pengayunan.
(ii)1
1Stating the correct variables
Manipulated variable : Mass /
Pemboleh ubah dimanipulasikan: Jisim
Responding variable: Period of oscillationPembolehubah bergerak balas:Tempoh pengayunan
Constant variable: Type of hack-saw blade.
Pemboleh ubah dimalarkan: Jenis bilah gergaji besi
(iii)1List of appropriate apparatus and materialApparatus : hack-saw blade, G-clamp, stop watch, plasticines with different mass.Radas: bilah gergaji besi, pengapit-G, jam randik, plastisin yang berlainan jisim.

1Stating the procedure of the experiment
(a)The hack-saw is clamped onto the foot of table.
One end of the hack-saw blade is attached with a
10.0 g mass, m.
Bilah gergaji besi diapit pada kaki meja. Hujung
bilah gergaji besi dilekat dengan 10.0 g beban, m.(b)The end loaded with mass is displaced
horizontally. Hujung yang berbeban digerakkan secara ufuk.
(c)The time for 5 oscillations is recorded. Masa untuk
5 ayunan dicatatkan.
(d)The period of 1 oscillation is calculated. Period = Time / 5
Tempoh untuk 1 ayunan dihitung. Tempoh = Masa / 5
(e)The experiments is repeated with mass 20.0 g,
30.0 g, 40.0 g and 50.0 g.
Eksperimen diulang dengan nilai jisim 20.0 g,
30.0 g, 40.0 g dan 50.0 g.

To study the relationship between the depth of water and the wave length.
State the manipulated variable and the responding variable
Manipulated variable : The depth of water
Responding variable : The wave length.
State ONE variable that kept constantFixed variable : The frequency of waves.
.
Complete list of apparatus and materials
Ripple tank, stroboscope, metre rule, Perspex plate and vibrator motor
Note:
A complete apparatus and materials means, with the
apparatus and materials a set of data ( manipulated and
responding variables) can be obtained from the experiment
State the workable arrangement of the apparatus
State the method of controlling the manipulated variable
1.The apparatus is set up as shown in figure.
2.Arrange a ripple tank, and placed a piece of perspex with h = 1.0 cm placed in the centre of the tank.
State the method of measuring the responding variable
The waves are freeze by a mechanical stroboscope and the wave length is measured by using metre rule and recorded.Repeat the experiment at least 2 timesThe experiment is repeated with h = 2.0 cm, 3.0 cm, 4.0 cm, 5.0 cmTabulating of data
