Mission• The Young Members Group works to encourage and enable all

young professional members to be actively involved in the efforts and endeavors of the Society at all levels by: – sponsoring non-technical workshops and meetings– collaborating with other Divisions and Groups in developing technical

and non-technical content for topical and national meetings– encouraging its members to participate in the activities of the Groups

and Divisions that are closely related to their professional interests as well as in their local sections

– introducing young members to the rules and governance structure of the Society

– nominating young professionals for awards and leadership opportunities available to members.

YMG Liaison Duties• Serve as point of contact between Professional Division (PD) or Technical Group (TG)

and YMG

• Identify potential collaborations between PD/TG and YMG

• Expected duties include:– Attending YMG Executive Committee meetings at the ANS National Meetings

• Nominally on Sunday morning at 7:00 am to avoid conflict with other PD/TG meetings

– Participating in email discussions on the executive committee list serv

– Providing a report on the activities of the YMG to PD/TG at each ANS National Meeting

– Working with PD/TG governance to identify potential areas of collaboration with YMG

– Notifying YMG of opportunities for collaboration with PD/TG, such as:• Jointly organized sessions or workshops

• Involving young members in program or meeting planning for PD/TG sponsored activities

• Involving young members in the governance of the PD/TG

– Serving as coordinator for joint programs and activities between the PD/TG and YMG• Facilitating communication between contributors to those programs

• Providing updates to the PD/TG on progress toward the objectives of the joint program or activity
