    In 1962, Ansul recognized that there was

    no effective system to combat dangerousand frightening restaurant fires.Dangerous because a fire can begin on acooking appliance or in a hood orductwork and quickly spread to involve anentire kitchen or restaurant. Frighteningbecause statistics show that manyrestaurants never reopen after a major fire.

    Ansul responded by developing the R-100System, the first dry chemical firesuppression system designed exclusivelyfor restaurant hood and duct protection.Restaurant owners, their insurancecompanies and local fire inspectors were

    quick to recognize the new system as an

    effective solution to a major problem in therestaurant industry. A new and improvedmodel, the Ansul R-101 Dry ChemicalSystem replaced the initial R-100 unit ashort time later.

    In 1982, we introduced the Ansul R-102Wet Chemical Restaurant FireSuppression System.     How the Ansul R-102 System works:

    When a fire occurs in a protected area, itis quickly sensed by detectors located inthe ductwork or cooking appliance hood.

    ANSULEX Low pHliquid fire suppressantflows through the piping and isdischarged into the plenum and duct

    areas and onto the cooking appliances.

    The ANSULEX agent is applied directly on

    the fire in specific spray patterns,suppressing the fire in seconds.As itsmothers the hot cooking greases, a foamblanket is formed, sealing off combustiblevapors to help prevent fire reflashes.

    The detectors trigger the ANSULAUTOMANrelease mechanism whichactuates the system... pressurizing theagent storage tank and automaticallyshutting off appliance energy sources inthe event of a fire.
