Ezra 8:20‐23 (NKJV)• 21Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. 22For I was ashamed to request of the king an escort of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy on the road, because we had spoken to the king, saying, “The hand of our God is upon all those for good who seek Him, but His power and His wrath are against all those who forsake Him.” 23So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.

Hannah

Hannah• 1 Samuel 1:11‐18 (NKJV)

• 12And it happened, as she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli watched her mouth. 13Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. 

Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. 14So Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you!” 15And Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk 

neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD. 

Hannah• 1 Samuel 1:11‐18 (NKJV)

• 16“Do not consider your maidservant a wicked woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.” 17Then Eli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of 

Him.” 18And she said, “Let your maidservant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate, and her 

face was no longer sad.

• How did Eli & Hannah know that God had answered this prayer seeing how many years she had been praying?

Jabez• 1 Chronicles 4:8‐10 (KJV)

• 9And Jabezc was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested. ‐ c Jabez: that is, Sorrowful

Jabez• The prayer of Jabez is one of the shortest 

prayers in the Bible. • How the Jabez know?

• 3 Things clearly come out of the next part of the prayer in scripture

• 1. Things were bad .He was called sorrow• 2. Jabez prayed. Do not let me fulfill my 

name or what I am called.• 3. God answered and things Changed.

It Manifests as Peace• Romans 5:1‐5 (KJV)

• 1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 

It Manifests as Peace• Justified ~ (A) ~ to be made right with God through the death and return to life of Jesus Christ; to say someone is right with God.

Christ; to declare that God has accepted someone

Justified means satisfying all the requirements or demands of the law, rules or policy. in this case 

the requirement of God

What is peace?• Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice.

Prayer God Hears• 1 John 5:14‐15

• 14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

• Hear has to do with listening. 

• Interesting concept is that hearing is requirement for us as well..

Prayer God Hears• Psalm 65:1‐13

• 1 Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion;  And to You the vow shall be performed. 2 O You who 

hear prayer,  To You all flesh will come.

• Nehemiah 1:10‐11

• 10 “We are your servants, the people you rescued by your great power and might. 11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success now as I go to ask the king for a great favor. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.”

Prayer God Hears• John 11:38‐44

• 38 Then Jesus, again groaning in Himself, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” 40 Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you 

would see the glory of God?” 41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard 

Me. 

Prayer God Hears• John 11:38‐44

• 42 “And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth!” 44 And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes,

3rd Option

Let’s explore a 3rd option!• An idea or a revelation of the solution,

• God answers prayers in many ways including signs wonders and miracles but 

that is not to limit God.• God uses processes to get things done as well. The bible is full of different ways God

• 31Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem. And the hand of our God was upon us, and He delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambush along the road. 32So we came to Jerusalem,and stayed there three days. 33Now on the fourth dathe silver and the gold and the articles were weighein the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth thson of Uriah the priest, and with him was Eleazar thson of Phinehas; with them were the Levites, Jozabathe son of Jeshua and Noadiah the son of Binnui, 34with the number and weight of everything. All theweight was written down at that time. 

Lessons from Ezra• An idea from God to separate the wealth and 

distribute them not to attract attention• By separating the wealth it would force the 

enemy to separate and become weaker in attacking them.

• It did not require soldiers to guard wealth that is focused in one area.

• A revelation of Strategy from God, A MIRACLE?

Lessons from Hannah• 1 Samuel 1:18‐20 (KJV)

• 18And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.  19And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her. 20Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD. 

Lessons from Hannah• Notice they still had a responsibility 

to do something based on the Revelation: 

• “And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the LORD remembered her.”

• That's our greatest need today, • Revelation like Paul used in Galatians 

to follow through on his ministry

Revelation• Revelation has major impact in our lives for example the promise of an inheritance on a future date affects the way we walk today.

Its God Decision• Its God who decides how your prayer is 

answered not you!

• Its not God give me but God show me

• Why is it that we have been taught to pray and ask God not only to give us finished products. 

• But we also ask the exact amount, the time & the person through whom He should supply it 

through.

• Thereby taking away from God the methodology He wants to use!

What are our Prayer Points• Daniels was convinced by revelation of scripture that the 70 years  of captivity had been reached & wanted to know what God was doing and what to do?

• Jeremiah 3:15 • “And I will give you shepherds 

according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and 

understanding. 

1st Paradigm • What we need is not available and this  is wrong because it creates the impression that God has not made 

provision for us.  

• When we pray we assume that is when  God starts to acts concerning 

us our request

The Truth • We have been blessed with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places. Notice its past 

tense

• “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a 

human experience.” 

Opportunity Wasted• Can you imagine how much of Gods resources 

and opportunities we have wasted?• How God tries to teach s new ways to prosper 

in this Economy.• We must repentwhere “Repent” means to 

change your mind and to change your direction!

• Teach me to pray for Understanding about the situation I am in

• Teach me to pray about the solutions and strategies.

understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.

my commands within you.• Receive God’s Word with respect, with 

an attitude of submission and obedience. 

• Receive it as the most valuable element of your life. Treasure it. 

• The Hebrew word means to store something up in the secret place, 

because it is of the most value to you.

understanding. • When someone is speaking to you and you really want to listen intently, you 

lean  in—even bow your head. • That’s what it means to incline your ear. It also demonstrates a submissive 

attitude. You become teachable.

Proverbs 2:1‐5 (NKJV)• 3. Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and 

lift up your voice for understanding. 

• This indicates a heart committed to prayer— impassioned prayer. This doesn’t mean making a public scene

when you pray. 

• In fact, impassioned prayer between justyou and God often can be more  productive than public prayer.

Proverbs 2:1‐5 (NKJV)• 4. If you seek her as silver, and search 

for her as for hidden treasures. • God doesn’t put everything out in the

open. God doesn’t put His jewels out on the pavement for anybody to pick

up. • He puts them in places where you have to grasp for them. This is how

we need to approach wisdom.

Proverbs 2:1‐5 (NKJV)• Now—after all the “IFs”—we come to 

the “THEN”—the promise.

• 5.Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge 

of God. 

• I don’t believe the knowledge of God can ever be separated from the fear 

of the Lord. 

Isaiah 11:2–3 says of Jesus:

• The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,  the Spirit of 

counsel and power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD— and he will delight in the 

fear of the LORD. NIV

The People Who Know Their God

•Daniel. 11:32• “Those who do wickedly 

against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out 

great exploits” 

Proverbs 2:6‐11 (NKJV)• 6 For the LORD gives wisdom;  From His mouth 

come knowledge and understanding; 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; 8 He 

guards the paths of justice,  And preserves the way of His saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. 10 When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your 

soul, 11 Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you,

Application• Ezra used wisdom, knowledge and understanding kept them, Discretion 

preserved them!

• God is bigger than what we think• I am not saying we should not pray 

for miracles

• Lets pray for all of Gods provision• Help Us O Lord

Application• Let’s cry out for understanding

• Let’s pray for discernment.

• Help us to understand answered prayer• Help us to pray for this nation with 

results

• Enlarge our coast and our territory• Help us to build for posterity

• Help us to leave an inheritance

Application• How will God reach 6 billion people

• We must ask God what and how he wants to do this!
