The sovereign citizen and tax protester segments of the movement have become more racially diverse in recent years. Private paramilitary groups have not.

The extremists ranged in age from 16 to 73, with the bulk of the violent activity taking place between ages 20 and 54.

Historically, this movement has been considered far-right but in recent years it has started to absorb some younger, far-left participants.

WHAT’S NOT INCLUDED: White supremacists, neo-Nazis, “Alt-Right,” and single-issue extremists (anti-abortion, anti-LGBT, and anti-immigrant,) unless they are also a member of the Anti-Government Extremist movement.
