Context Two weeks ago, an international conference, which gathered around 1,000

people,washeldinParisonthethemeof“islamization”.Initiatedby RiposteLaiqueandotherFrenchextreme‐rightgroups(like Blocidentitaire,ResistanceRépublicaine…),the

various speakers (writers, unionists, researchers, feminists…) warned the audienceabout “fascislamism”, “green fascism”, “the green (i.e. Islamic) tide”, the “(islamic)religiousoffensive”,“neo‐barbarism”,“totalitarianism”,“Eurabia”,“thedhimmi‐sationof

Europe”, “Bedouins”: no words were strong enough to describe the perils awaiting

France and European civilisation if nothing was done to stop theMuslims. Calls forguerrilla,civilwar,politicalorganisation,(armed)resistanceandrevolutionweremade.

ThisinternationalconferenceappearslikethefinalactofayearfullofeventsrelatingtoMuslimsand IslaminFrance.Therewerearound ahundredjournalistsfromall over

EuropeincludingAlJazeera.Theconferencecouldalsobewatchedonlineandaccording

totheorganizers,morethan200,000viewersfollowedit.

This international conference may be seen as an example of the rising of theextreme right groups and discourses in Europe and as an attempt to organizeinternationally for these groups against a threat that is perceived as common.

Interestingly,justlikeMuslimradicals,thesegroupsdonotbelieveintheexistenceof

“moderateIslam”or“moderateMuslims”,IslamisinessenceviolentandintolerantandconsequentlyMuslimsareallpotentialterroristsandbloodysoldiersrapingtheirwives

anddaughtersduringconflicts(thiswassaidbyaspeakerreferringtotheBosnianwar).

TheSpeakers

From the United States with Tom Trento and the Florida Security Council to

Britain with Tom Robinson and his English Defense League through the Swiss

“ResistanceHero”,i.e.OskarFreysingerandhisbodyguard,thespeakerspreachedtoanenthusiastic audience passionately supporting the cause. In the discourses, the same

referencesweremade concerning the Judaeo‐Christian rootsofEurope, the crusadesandotherparticularhistoricaleventslikethebattleofTours‐Poitiers(AD732)andthe

SiegeofVienna.Interestingly,itseemedtomethatallthespeakersandtheaudienceassumedthateverysingleMuslimhadwhollyreadtheQuranandknewitbyheartand

actedaccordinglyintheireverydaylife.

Therewere24speakers.Thespeeches(inFrench,EnglishandRussian)centeredon accounts of concrete examples of islamization in some countries (like a French

unionist denouncing growing demands for worship places; or the account of howBrusselsisnowaMuslimtown;orhowtoorganizewhensalafiswanttobuildamosque

in your neighbourhood…) or on more theoretical discourses (laicité; feminism and

women’srights;nodifferencebetweenIslamandIslamism;theSwissfederalmodelandtheminaretban…).
