››› OSM-Series

The OSM-Series mount is designed for use on machinery that does not requirefastening to the floor and where stringent demands are imposed on effective vibra-tion damping and the reduction of troublesome noise emitted from machinery andequipment. It has been designed with the aid of FEM analysis, which preventsfatigue from fast working cycle times and strong lateral forces in heavy machinery.

The reinforced leveling bolt support cup distributes machine loads tothe support points within the mount. The leveling element providesdirect and reliable machine mounting to suit most installation needs.

Vertical as well as horizontal forces are dampened out bythe integral nitrile pad, which also provides chemical resistanceto most fluids.

A tried and tested design with good leveling characteristicsmakes the OSM-Series the natural choice for the majority ofmachine types used in industry.

››› MHD-Series Precision LevelingThe MHD-Series leveling mount is ideal for machines exerting large horizontaland vertical thrust forces, where a secure, high-precision connection betweenbedding element and machine is demanded. A unique design allowsthe MHD mount to absorb impacts from injection molding machinesto achieve improved operation and economy. The mount absorbsimpulses and shocks in high-speed machinery, where dampingmaterial is critical.

The Sunnex MHD mount consists of the followingcomponents; impact housing, pressure plate, pressurecylinder, and adjustable screw with nut and washer. Thisstructure guarantees precision leveling to 1/100 mmthroughout its leveling range, with no change in naturalfrequency. In addition, an integral locking device prevents the MHD from coming apart during installation or relocation ofthe machine. Single mounting points are bolted directly to the mount.

The damping pad is carefully engineered to support static and dynamic loads. It also has a specific stiffness, designedto minimize machine deflection caused by dynamic forces. The elastomer can be customized based on thickness andsurface profile to meet specific design requirements.

Additionally, spherical washers can be supplied as an optional extra for uneven support surfaces and floors.

››› WM-SeriesThe Sunnex WM-Series of machine mounts that havebeen specially designed for installation andleveling medium and heavy duty machineryused in areas such as the plastic industry,the engineering industry and the graphicsindustry.

The Sunnex WM system consists of a high preci-sion leveling wedge that, thanks to a simple push/pullprocess, enables height adjustment accuracy to 1/100 mm.Both the topside and the underside of the mount is coated with a 2 mm layer ofhigh friction rubber that can withstand most known types of grease, acid, oil and coolant normallyused in industrial applications.

The WM-Series is particularly suited to various types of processing machines, injection moulding machines, presses,stamping machines and production lines. In addition, the Sunnex WM-Series can also be used as extra support formachines on long beds and works just as well on free-standing machines as on those anchored in the foundation.

These hygienic stainless mounts by Sunnex meet all FDA and USDA requirementsfor food and drug processing equipment. A special rubber vulcanized to the housingproduces a completely hygienic seal. In addition the ANSI 304 stainless steel prov-ides high corrosion resistance. A full range of motion, from a 10o pivot, providessecure footing and complete vibration control.

These models are available in FDA accepted versions with or without threadcasings, for maximum thread adjustment. Both models are available in ANSI316 SS, for aggressively corrosive environments. Alternate designs includeone or two anchoring holes that secure to the floor. Model H3A Model H

The Sunnex Hygienic M-Series has a rounded and polished surface design, forapplications requiring frequent cleaning and wash-downs. The 5o swivel providesexcellent stability even on inclined surfaces. Models are available in a wide rangeof load capacities, bolt diameters and length configurations.

The Sunnex LE-Series consists of a rubbermolding vulcanized onto a leveling bolt.The rubber molding has excellent frictionon almost any surface and provides a safeand dependable installation.

The minimal stud length is wellsuited for both open hole and blindhole applications. Each model comescomplete with nut and washer forleveling and locking in place. Standardrubber molds are gray in color, howeverLE 19 are also available in a high durometer black rubber for heavy loads.

››› FSM-Series

Sunnex FSM is a series of machine mounts specially designed for free-stan-ding applications in which stringent demands are imposed on effective vibra-tion damping and reduction of troublesome noise emanating from machineryand other equipment. Sunnex FSM is specially designed for applications thatdo not have bolt holes or, where bolt holes are inaccessible.

Sunnex FSM consists of a leveling plate coated with friction rubber thatrests on a leveling bolt built into a steel chassis and a thick rubber dampingelement. The design of the mount allows it to withstand most types of grease, acid,oil and coolants that are useed in the industry.

A tried and tested design with excellent leveling characteristics makes the Sunnex FSM the natural choise for themajority of machine types used in the industry, e.g. machine tools, engineering machinery and die and punch machines.

››› SP-SeriesSunnex SP-Series machine pads are used in manyareas of industry to insulate machinery against theadverse effects of impact, vibration, structure-borne noise, or simply to prevent slipping.

There are five types of machine pads tochoose from, each with its own specific hardness,natural frequency, and load-bearing characteris-tics.

The SP-Series is resistant to most types of grease, acid,oil, and cooling emulsions. Pad deflection and spread are offset by the unique cell design.

All SP-Series machine pads are made of special nitrile rubber and the pads can easily be modified for your spacerequirements.

TECHNICAL DISCUSSION

››› IntroductionVibration is a common term used to describe varying degrees of mechanical movement. Vibration can range from theimperceptible seismic motion, to chattering pieces of an automobile, all the way to an earthquake. Any vibration can beclassified into three types: Transient, Random, or Periodic. As a rule of thumb, the source of vibration will indicateto some extent the type of vibration generated.

TransientLarge amplitude, short duration, and individualdisturbance such as an impact. Presses, shears,or dropped material are all examples of transientvibration sources. See Figure 1.

RandomFrequent, but short duration disturbances that cannot be defined over time. See Figure 2.

PeriodicMotion that repeats its position about someequilibrum point at a constant and repeating periodof time. Periodic is the most common type ofvibration. See Figure 3.

GLOSSARY OF RELATED TERMS

Vibration: Movement of an object on or about its point of equilibrium.

Random Vibration: Motion of an object on or about its equilibrium point whose positioncan not be known at an instant in time.

Stead State Vibration: Motion of an object its equilibrium is symmetric and repeats over time.

Transient Vibration: Short duration motion of an object due to an outside force that doesnot sustain or repeat over time.

Forced Vibration: Steady state vibration sustained by an outside force (Fd).

Frequency: The number of cycles completed per unit of time (Hz).

Natural Frequency: The frequency a system will vibrate once displaced from equilibriumand released (Fn).

Resonant Frequency: The point at which a systems’ natural frequency matches that of aforcing frequency, and undergoes amplification or resonance.

Damping: frictional resistance to the motion of a system that tends to reduce theamplitude of each consecutive motion (D).
