Tips on using the antibiogram

• Antibiogram is based on the Hospital Flora & antibiotic sensitivity of isolates from Jindal hospital over last 1 month .

• Antibiogram is updated at regular intervals(3 months)• Antibiogram can used to guide the empiric therapy in treatment .

See the most common isolate from the sample type(Urine,pus etc) ,then see the antibiotic sensitivity of the isolate which may then be used to guide the empiric antibiotic be sensitivity.eg E.coli is the commonest isolate in urine samples from the hospital & Imipenem has the highest sensitivity for E .coli followed by Pipercallin tazobactum & Amikacin.

• Antibiotics being used in antibiotic panels are as per Guidelines from CLSI(Clinical laboratries standards Institute),2014.
