Thesis Statement
In Antigone, Creon’s pride keeps him from
changing his mind regarding the burial of
Polyneices’ body and this relates to
people nowadays who’s pride blinds them
and keeps them from making the right
choices.
Antigone
Creon refuses to let Antigone bury her
brother, Polyneices, because his pride in
his laws and his rules keeps him from
changing his mind and doing the right
thing. This sense of pride that keeps him
from doing the right thing eventually leads
to his downfall.
Today
Many people nowadays have a sense of
pride that keeps them from making the
right decisions. Bosses and judges are
prime examples of people who’s pride
overtakes their judgment and keeps them
from changing their minds and sometimes
making mistakes.
Connection
Creon’s pride in himself and the law
relates to many people today who cannot
change their minds due to their pride.
People’s stubbornness and pride cause
them to make big mistakes just like Creon
did.
