We are trialling the new day to hopefully promote better communication. By sending the newsletter out on a Monday, we can re-cap the events from the previous week and parents can see what’s happening in the week ahead. Please remember that you can also subscribe to the newsletter via our school website. www.sunburywestps.vic.edu.au New Flagpole We are very pleased to receive a grant under the Saluting Their Service Commemora- tive Grants Program for the installation of a new flagpole. We look forward to reinstating this, complete with new flags that were also donated to the school. Prep Info Sessions This week’s Leader newspaper includes the flyer promoting all information sessions for 2016 Prep enrolments across the Sunbury Diggers’ Rest network. Please be sure to let any prospective parents know about our information dates (see below) as we are already receiving enquiries and enrolments. School Improvement Initiatives School Council is very excited about two key initiatives that we would like to undertake this year. Firstly, we are hoping to establish a Sunbury West Playgroup for children between the ages of 0 - 5. This will hopefully commence in Term 3 and start with one session per week. Secondly, the Environment sub-committee is beginning to obtain quotes and gather information for the development of our running track and fitness circuit around the perimeter of the oval. We are currently applying for grants to support this but the project will take time and be costly. We are grateful for any donations of labour, time, equipment and materials that parents might be able to offer. If you are able to contribute in any way, please see Sharon Moore or myself. Classroom Helpers Program 2015

The Classroom Helpers Program offers an opportunity for parents to share in the educational development of students with

the support and direction of teachers in the Junior School.

The efforts of the classroom helpers are a highly valued resource for students as opportunities for learning are nurtured by

the participation of understanding adults.

An Information Session will be held on Monday 11th May from 9.30am to 11.00am to explain to parents the type of activities

and tasks you will be asked to assist with in the daily Literacy or Numeracy sessions in our classrooms. Grandparents are most

welcome to join in the fun and assist in classrooms.

Please fill in the form below if you are interested in participating in this program and return to school by Thursday 7th May.

Looking forward to your participation,

Claire Duckworth

I would like to participate in the Early Years Literacy and Numeracy Classroom Helpers Program and would be able to commit

to at least one hour per week in a classroom during the Literacy or Numeracy sessions.
