A community of wind, water and treesCocoon is not just a housing complex; it is a way of life. By choosing to

live here, you also choose to live in a manner that is integrated with nature, respectful of natural resources and sensitive to the ecology. As Sanjay Mohe of Mindspace,

the creative force behind the design of Cocoon says, “These are homes absorbed into nature, where you will live the experience -

wind, water, light, rain, and nature”

Fresh air meets fresh thinkingWhen Asten was created by Kerala’s noted realty leaders Siraj Mather and Raffi

Mather, the duo had a clear vision. They aimed to revolutionise housing in the state; introducing new concepts and a new consciousness to homeowners.

Out of this vision was born Cocoon, a symbol of the metamorphosis that Asten will bring to life. Collaborating with Mindspace, Asten seeks to

usher in a fresh way of life.

In step with nature Living close to nature is not just about living away from the city. Or merely living near water. Or living in a scenic locale. To truly live in harmony with nature, it is important to ensure that your life doesn’t harm it in anyway. That your home doesn’t take up all

its green spaces. That your effluents do not dirty her pristine waters. That your activities do not pollute her life giving air.

Where life unfolds before youCocoon is a development of fifty five villaments, set in 4 acres by the River Periyar in Aluva. This gently sloping parcel of land offers a wonderful view of the water; rather than level the property, the design makes the unique terrain its main highlight. The

entire property is arranged on the side of the hill, in a terraced design, with each level unfolding beneath the other.

A roof of greenCocoon’s terraced design creates a unique advantage. The villaments are arranged

on successive levels, each a step below the other. Each level has a lawn of green, that forms the roof of the level below. In the years to come, foliage will shroud the

homes in a cocoon of green. What the eye sees will be green, and not concrete.

Water fills your eyesThe terrace like formation ensures that each home has an unhindered view of the river; much like seeing the stage from an amphitheatre. Before you, lie the swift

flowing waters of the Periyar, a river of rich history, beauty and legend. The breeze fanned by the river wafts freely across the green expanses into the homes of

Cocoon, as there are no concrete structures blocking its path.

Nature grows with you This style of construction offers many benefits. Firstly, it creates housing without taking up too much precious green space. This leaves the ground free for nature to

blossom, uninterrupted. Secondly, everyone gets their own patch of refreshing green. Over the years, the green spaces will dominate, sheltering your home completely.

Landscape designed by nature The villament will offer penthouses and duplexes. These homes are a celebration of creativity; the unique design will fill your life with fresh purpose and energy. undulating terrain influences the landscape design. The glass facade of each dwelling brings in light, but keeps out the heat.

And we have harnessed the sun further; leveraging solar power for many of our energy requirements. Other environmental measures include our water conservation efforts through using sanitary fittings that consume less water.

Privacy at play At Cocoon, it is not that the amenities are unique, but where they are

placed and how they are designed that is truly so. The clubhouse faces the water, with an infinity pool on its outer rim. To help you enjoy the view without

being on display, the gym is recessed into the ground. The landscape design flows organically from the nature of the terrain itself. As for car-parking, it has been

cleverly designed underground, hidden under the hill.

The architect of changeThe revolutionary design of Cocoon is the inspired creation of Sanjay Mohe, one of the most respected

and highly awarded architects in India. Deeply concerned with sustainablity, Sanjay Mohe's designs venerate simplicity, paring away the extraneous and irrelevant. His concepts are rooted in Indian culture and tradition. Mindspace, the architectural firm he helms, has become a byword for excellence in the 8 years of its existence.

An alumni of India's first architectural institute, JJ College of Architecture, Mumbai, Sanjay Mohe honed his skills and design philosophy working alongside well known names in the field such as Chandravarkar and

Thacker Associates and Charles Correa. His portfolio straddles a wide spectrum of projects including research laboratories, knowledge parks, campuses, factories, resorts, libraries, corporate offices, hospices and residences.

A team player, he gathers around him, individuals with a similar design ethos, who are as dedicated to excellence in architecture as he is. Sanjay Mohe is known to pick and choose only those projects that appeal to

his creative spirit; we at Asten are honoured to collaborate with him to present before you, Cocoon.
