Special Collection Next Weekend
Next weekend we will take up the second collection to benefit The Black and Native American Missions in this country. This annual collection is instrumental in building community in the African American, Native American, Eskimo and Aleut peoples of our nation. They have helped form a new religious community for service to Indian Tribes and helped educate Black and Indian Native vocations. Please do your part next weekend.

Minimum Lenten Requirements Days of Abstinence (No meat) –Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent for all who have reached their 14
th
birthday. Days of Fast (a limit of one meatless meal)-Ash Wednesday and Good Friday for all who have reached their 18
th birthday and are not yet 60 years old. (Two
minimal meals may also be taken) Self-denial is encouraged voluntarily. Acts might include daily Mass, spiritual study, Lenten devotions, The Rosary and deeds of kindness and mercy.
Women’s Retreat Ladies, you will remember that fall retreat had to be postponed due to bad weather. It is now scheduled for Saturday March 11
th, 2017. This morning of Lenten
reflection and prayer will take place at NCCS (1st floor
Resource Room). Sister M. Elizabeth Mackowiak will be our retreat director focusing on “Method and Practice of Centering Prayer” in our daily lives. Please pre-register by phone to SEAS parish office 366-1750 ext. #6. The morning will begin at 8:30-9 a.m. with a sign-in and refreshments. A $5 fee will be collected at that time. Sessions will run from 9 a.m. till 12 noon followed by luncheon. A prayer service will conclude the retreat
Lenten Evening Prayer Each Sunday evening of Lent at 6:30 p.m. we will pray a form of evening prayer based on the Taize tradition. This prayer form is borrowed from a famous interdenominational monastery in France and is characterized by a blending of song, scripture and silence. We encourage you to try it at least once. The total prayer service takes about 30 minutes. All are welcome.

Diocesan Catholic Women’s Conference On Saturday, March 18 Catholic Women of Buffalo Inc. will host a women’s conference at Cardinal O’Hara High School, 39 O’Hara Rd. Tonawanda, NY 14150. The activities will begin with registration at 7:30 am. Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Malone at 8am. The day will conclude at 3:30pm. The Keynote speakers will be Rachel Balducci, Brooke Taylor and Matthew Leonard. There will be a continental Breakfast and Lunch. Tickets will cost $35. St. Joseph's Club Family Day All high school guys interested in discerning God's will for their lives are welcome to join us for food, fun, and fellowship at the St. Joseph's Club, being held at Christ the King Seminary, Saturday, March 11th, beginning at 2 p.m. Parents are invited to stay as our guests speakers, Tom and Jean Noonan, will give a witness on their experience as parents of a priest. 7th Graders Practice Entrance, Scholarship & Replacement Exam On Saturday March 4
th, 2017, St Francis will offer a
practice exam for all 7th grade boys; this practice is in
preparation for Entrance & Scholarship Exam which all boys in 8
th grade must take to gain admission to St.
Francis High School.
