Will You Join Us?.. Every morning Monday through Friday at 6:00am in the chapel and 8:00am in church on Saturdays we say the rosary. We pray for the needs of the Church, the Pope, clergy and reli-gious, for sinners everywhere, for all suffering souls as well as those in Purgatory. We are parishioners re-sponding to the needs of others as well as our own.
Marian Moments in the Jubilee Year of Mercy That Pope Francis launched the Jubilee Year on the Feast of the Immaculate Con-cep on was no random choice. In his own words:
"This liturgical feast day recalls God's ac on from the very beginning of the history of mankind. A er the sin of Adam and Eve, God did not wish to leave humanity alone in the throes of evil. So he turned his gaze to Mary, holy and immaculate in love, choosing her to be the Mother of man's Redeemer. When faced with the gravity of sin, God responds with the fullness of mercy."
During the month of May we are especially mindful of Mary and in this year in par cular, her role as the Virgin of Mercy. On our website and social media ac-counts we are featuring daily Marian Moments of Mercy: small ways to incorpo-rate the Blessed Mother’s merciful spirit into your life, tagged #MarianMercy; visit stjuliana.org/faith-life/marian-mercy for more informa on. Here are the daily #MarianMercy reminders for this week:
5/7 Be generous enough to allow someone to help you; people need to feel needed.
5/8 If you’re sharing a treat, take the smaller por on.
5/9 Create a short end-of-day ritual to ask for (and extend) forgiveness with those you live with. “Do not let the sun set on your anger.”
5/10 Instead of discarding off-season clothing, donate truly usable items to SVDP or similar organiza on.
5/11 Offer to drive an elderly person to Mass. 5/12 Hold. Your. Tongue. 5/13 Give away something of yours (that you really like) to someone you know
would enjoy it.
WE GIVE THANKS FOR OUR MOTHER’S
She speaks with a gentle wis-dom, she is always busy and looks a er her family’s needs. Her children show their appre-cia on, and her husband prais-es her.
Proverbs 31: 26-28

On Thursday, May 5th, 100 Young Adults from our School and CCD Program received the sacrament of Confirma on from Archbishop Blase Cupich. Here are some of their thoughts about Confirma on. “I want to make my Confirma on because....” Juliana Ramirez: I want to make my own choice about my faith instead of my parents making that decision for me. I am making this decision because I want to expand my faith and make my own decisions. Claire Boland: I want to become closer to God. I want to con-
nue my life as a Catholic. I want to help others and do good deeds. I want to strengthen my faith and believe in God. As a Catholic I feel the need to do good things and this will help me. The Spirit will come to me and guide me. Confirma on will help me live a be er life filled with prayer and service. Jimmy Boldt: I want to become closer to God and be a be er person for myself, my community, and for my friends and fami-ly. Also, I want to be filled with the Holy Spirit and receive the Gi s of the Holy Spirit. Karly Svachula: Being Confirmed is very special and important. I am now old enough and mature enough to be part of the Catholic Church. I also will have more of a responsibility to be a good person and show love to others by going out of my way to help them. I need to be respec ul of others. I feel closer to God and will make Him more a part of my life. Mallory Irizarry: Confirma on is a final step in being a full member of the Catholic Church. It is a sign of maturity in my faith. The gi s of the Holy Spirit will be present in me as I go through my life to help me make decisions and do the right thing. Lauren Hollis: Being confirmed means that I can iden fy and really appreciate my Catholic Faith. I have grown closer to God and have learned valuable things. I am now regarded as an adult in the church and have a newfound responsibility to keep my faith alive. Sara Jaworski: I want to choose by myself to become a be er Catholic. Also, I want to grow closer to God through doing more service. I want to make this sacrament because I want to be a more involved Catholic in my parish. Rory Lally: I am ready to become closer to God. I feel a call from God and I feel ready to take on more responsibili es of a Catholic. I feel prepared and want to be more connected to the Holy Spirit. Aidan Mar n: I want to serve people. I know that I can serve others without being confirmed but with the Gi s of the Holy Spirit I will be able to and have the courage to serve people to a greater extent.
Billy McMillin: I have fully opened up my heart to the Lord and have accepted God into my life. It also means that if someone is going though a rough patch in life, I can teach that person about God’s gi s and tell them to turn to God. I can guide them toward the path of the Holy Spirit so that if they lose hope, they have something to hold onto. Isabelle Blackburn: Being confirmed means receiving the Holy Spirit and becoming an adult Catholic. It is now up to me to prac ce my religion. I have to take myself to church and pray. It also means that I have to try to be like the saint I picked. For example, my saint was very helpful and kind, so I have to try to be like that. Sean McGovern: Being confirmed means a lot to me. It is a sacrament that I have been looking forward to since I knew what it was. It means being closer to God. This is huge to me because it reminds me that God is always with me and is al-ways helping me. Being confirmed is also a confidence
booster, that I can do things because I have God with me. Also, it means I am finally an adult member of the Catholic Church. Mary Doherty: I want to speak for myself to choose to be a Catholic. I also would like the Gi s of the Holy Spirit and complete my sacraments of ini a on. Lauren Ward: I want to deepen my faith, and become closer to God. Also it will seal my Bap sm. Making my Confirma on will make me a more mature part of our church and parish. Tom Schrantz: Confirma on is something that I think will make me happier with my life. Confirma on is a sacrament that re-
news our Bap sm and I think I need to receive this sacra-ment. Jamie O’Brien: God has chosen me to be confirmed and He wants me to be a part of His church. Even though I am a child of God, being confirmed means I am now an adult within the church and closer than ever to God. Ashley Chon: In confirma on, I receive the Gi s of the Holy Spirit which strengthens me to follow God’s commandments, Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy as well as deepen my rela onship with God. Tommy Howle : I am now accepted into the Church as a young adult which means I have more responsibility and wis-dom which makes me part of a community that will always love me through thick and thin. My love and understanding of God has grown deeper.

G C FAQ #3
Won’t it look odd if I don’t put any-thing in the Sunday collec on basket? Many people donate online or write just one offering check per month, so it’s becoming quite common to see parishioners pass by the offering bas-ket. If you’d be more comfortable dropping something in the basket, we have printable notes available from the parish office and online at give.stjuliana.org. If you haven’t yet registered with www.givecentral.org for secure online dona ons, please do so today! Contact the parish office (773.631.4127 or email [email protected]) for assis-tance.
