- Why do we need standards for edible oil industry ??
- Why oil adulteration practices are common in Myanmar??
- What are the practices of adulteration??
- How suffer the consumers and producers ??-a lot of scope to pursue the dangerous practice of

(Ref. Fats, oils and related products, volume 8, 2001 revised)
Codex use as References
• To select Parameters (Quality and Food Safety) from Codex standards to analyze in Laboratory.
• Procure analytical equipments depend upon the parameters selected from Codex.
Codex use as References Food safety
• Chemical contaminants
– General standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food and Feed Codex stan 193-1995 Revised in 1997, 2006, 2008, 2009 Amended in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015.
– The GMS countries must have the national capacity to analyse the contaminants according to Codex standard 193-1995 !!!!

- General Principles of Food Hygiene (51)
- Guidelines (73)
- Standards (212)
- Recommendations (5)
•Quality standards are typically imposed for reasons of public health and food safety
• Particular importance to safeguard from biological and chemical contamination
• Require certification of exported/imported goods.
•The FAO/WHO Codex Alimentarious is the major international source of such food safety standards.
