EYP “GRANDPARENTS ARE A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING : A PARENT, A TEACHER AND A FRIEND”

G randparents are a family’s greatest treasure, the founders of a loving legacy, the greatest storytellers and the keepers of traditions. Grandparents through their special love and care, contribute significantly to develop a well-rounded and secured personality of their children.

RBK International Academy's EYP section celebrated Grandparents Day on 11th September 2018, with great enthusiasm.

The function started with a traditional welcoming of the guests with kumkum and flowers followed by auspicious lamp lighting and prayers. A warm welcome was given to the chief guest Ms. Bhanumathi Sharma and our Grandparents by our Principal. The joyful mood continued with beautiful music and dance performances of all the early years’ classes. We had a musical trio amongst us intermittently singing lilting melodies from the past, and the experience was thoroughly nostalgic for all our guests! The joy of walking down the memory lane with old songs was distinctly visible on their faces.

To balance the tones set by the events thus far, we had a Games session in which grandparents participated with great zeal. The response was overwhelming and heart-warming. They indeed had their hair down and joined wholeheartedly in all the games, sang songs and had a bit of jiggle too. Lively music and enthusiastic grandparent-grandchild combinations made these events runaway hits with all those present.

After the delightfully entertaining experience, our staff ushered the guests to the cafeteria for a delicious brunch. The EYP Team interacted personally with the guests, during this time and shared their happiness. The general mood was one of joyous celebration, and everyone seemed truly happy.

It was a successful event indeed, and the School as always would be pleased to organize many more events such as this.

Thank you Grand Parents and thank you team RBK for this memorable event!!!

    Warm regards,

    Healthy v/s Junk food

G ood Nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Teaching

children healthy eating habits can set them

on course for a healthy life. Most kids love

ice cream, chocolates and cookies but

    incorporating healthy food habits in

children’s lives is vital. Healthy foods are

very important for children as they are

growing every day, so their bodies need a

healthy diet in order to support healthy

    growth.

K1 class went all out to explore the types

of health foods and junk foods and also the

effects of both on the body. All the effects

were taught and learned in a fun way by a

story enacted by K1 homeroom teachers.

PYP Grade 3 Guest Speaker session on Doodling

D oodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be composed of random and abstract lines, generally without ever lifting the drawing device from the paper,

in which case it is usually called a "scribble".

A guest speaker session on Doodling was conducted by Ms. Namra Shaikh on 19th September, 2018 for grade 3 students of RBK Academy. The students learnt various patterns required for doodling in this session. Students enjoyed this unique technique of expressing through doodling art. PYP

L earners of Grade 1 A enhanced their listening skills by viewing a story of ‘Leo the late bloomer.’ They saw how Leo wasn’t reading, or writing, or drawing and his father was concerned. Through this story the students understood that how the little tiger Leo bloomed late, every one learn things at the correct time when they are ready. The students used their comprehension skills to sequence the story effectively. As a part of their story session, 1st graders enthusiastically made head gears of their favourite character ‘Leo’ the tiger!

    Grade 4 : Guest Speaker

W hile Grade 4 students were involved with their UOI on

“Societies govern in many ways that

influence the lives of their citizens”

they had a very interactive session

    with our guest speaker Mr.

    Karthikeyan. The session began

with why and how a government

system came into being, then it

went on to the different branches

    of the government, and the

    interactive game he played wore

    the crown, involving all the

students made the learning fun and

    interesting. The session lasted for

an hour, which just flew by.

    Students and teachers left the

    library feeling richer in their

    understanding, and clearer in their

    concepts.

PYP GRADE 4 Learning outside the boundaries of the classroom

S tudent learning outside the classroom foster a climate that

    contributes to greater educational

productivity. This week grade 4 got an

opportunity to visit the schools Physics

lab and lay their hands on different

    measuring instruments. Ms. Shuchi

Shukla our (IBDP Coordinator) , Ms.

    Komalika Mukharjee (our MYP

teacher) and Ms. Yogita Patil (our lab

    assistant) very gracefully took the

    students through their journey on

    different measuring instruments.

Students were thrilled to get the feel

of different instruments used in olden

days and the most modern ones. Some

    of the hands-on activities arranged,

    helped students understand why

    standard measuring units were really

important. May it be modern digital

    balance to measure weight or

    measuring tool to measure analogy

and digital time or may it be tool to

measure volume or mass. It was a

great learning experience. We also like

to thank Ms. Natasha Popli( Head of

    Science) for coordinating and making

    this visit sucess.

    MYP/DP French:-Service as action activity

A a part of our Unit on Mon Monde et Moi our French Teacher, Ms Sonya Sapani asked us to do a Service as action activity, we were all stumped. Later, she suggested something really unique. It was that we set up stalls representing the urban lifestyle and the countryside lifestyle in France. We planned to sell small items that may be used in these areas. We were split into two groups; one taking charge of countryside lifestyle and the other taking charge of urban lifestyle. The countryside group sold colourful tied and dyed handkerchiefs and scented candles while the urban group sold key chains, personalised magnets and small bottles of perfumes. We invited many students and teachers to our class to purchase our merchandise, most of which was made by ourselves. All of the proceeds from this event will be going towards charitable causes.
