    Room Parties

Looking Inside the Art Room with Ms. Schukei

As I continue to make this wonderful transition to Leonard Lawrence I’m excited to share some of the happenings in Art. Each day when students come into the classroom I strive for them to use their critical thinking and problem solving skills to open up a new world of creativity.

Each grade and class has been hard at work, but I would like to take a minute to focus on the 6th Graders. As a grade we are making a collaborative project. Studying the artist Dale Chihuly, a glass blower, we are making our very own glass blown inspired piece. After collecting hundreds of plastic bottles students got to work decorating and cutting, as students finished their bottles we started tying and securing them all together. I saw a lot of great teamwork happening throughout this project, someone was always reaching out an extra hand to help.

To see all of the happenings going on inside the Art room, check out my blog: http://aschukei.blogspot.com. Here you can find what is happening in each grade. I update it weekly so you can know the latest.

I  look  forward  to  working  with  the  students  at  Leonard  Lawrence  as  we  continue  to  explore  the  many  aspects  of  art.

PTA sponsored Room Parties will have a few changes this year. Classes will enjoy three parties throughout the year:

    Fall Party – Friday, October 26th 2:30 – 3:10

*Please note – the Fall Party will not include costumes or a costume parade to allow more time for students to participate in party games and activities.

    Winter Party – Thursday, December 20th 2:30 – 3:10

    Valentine’s Party – Wednesday, February 13th 2:30 – 3:10

During the parties all students will be provided with a snack and drink, and they will participate in activities planned by the PTA Room Parents. We appreciate our PTA and volunteers who work to make these parties a success!
