“Help Me Focus”
n PROGRAM OVERVIEW This program was developed to
help my students acquire ways to help them focus. I teach a K – 5th ESE self-contained classroom. My students have specif ic learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disabilities, autism, asperger’s syndrome, hearing deficits, and intellectually disabled.
Through the use of various objects and strategies, my students perform better on academics because they can stay focused on their assignments. Each student uses whatever device is beneficial to him/her. Various studies have shown that physical activity is linked with better learning.
This program does not address a specific set of standards or access points, but it does enable students to meet them with specific tools to help them focus. My motto is – Whatever it takes to help them learn!

helps all students, especially students with disabilities. Students who feel the need for movement, sensory stimulation, calming features, etc., can benefit from this program. Items used are easily purchased and/or made.
When a child can focus, they can learn. If they can learn, they can succeed. It’s a win-win situation.
