Words not only to inspire the decorations, but words to reflect upon why we are here. As parents and educators and those who support EdUCate!, we only want the best for all of our children. We want them to reach for the stars, whether in academics, the arts, in sports, or in community service. Success comes in trying your best, not always being the best. But our children can’t try to reach for those goals, if they don’t have the resources to do so. That’s where EdUCate! and our annual Taste of the Triangle steps in. For over 20 years now, EdUCate! has continued to lend a helping hand to UC students to reach for the stars by raising over $1.4 million, which has funded teacher, principal, and cluster grants. Everything from art supplies to the establishment of the Math Academy has been provided to aid our educational community. I attribute the success of EdUCate! to the support of UC’s parents -- both direct and indirect. Our strong community backing with both time and finances towards EdUCate!’s goal of supporting the five University City public schools is a unique model for other communities and a reflection of UC being more than a neighborhood. We are a family, and as parents in that family, we wish the best for the children. My hope is when all our children are grown and become parents, we have done our job of being the role model stars that they will emulate. We parents have the power to create a future generation of celebrities -- in education, in science, in medicine, in finance, in music, in arts, in media, in public service. Support our children as they hitch their wagon to the star calling their name. Now, let’s all show our support by enjoying the Taste. I think the committee and EdUCate! has once again reached for our own stars in planning the event, please thank them. “Hitch your wagon to a star.”Ralph Waldo Emerson

Emerson’s famous quote are the words that inspired this year’s Taste of the Triangle theme to Reach for the Stars!

Be an EdUCate! star and celebrate with food, drink, song, dance, friendship...and lots of auction bidding!

Welcome to an evening where together, we will reach for the stars!

    Silent Auction Protocol

Welcome to the Taste of the Triangle Silent Auction, where all items have been donated and all proceeds benefit the students of the five public schools of University City. To participate in the Silent Auction, you will need to:

REGISTER: To place bids, or make a donation, register your Smartphone with an ABC staff member in RED. ABC staff members are also available as “Personal Shoppers” should you prefer to bid/donate through them.

DONATE: Simply click the donate button “$” on your Smartphone and enter an amount, or reply to any message from ABC with the word GIVE and an amount. Example: GIVE 100.

BID VIA SMARTPHONE: The system will repopulate the minimum bid required for each item you would like to place a bid. If you would like to bid higher than the minimum bid, just enter a new amount and click BID. To have the ABC system automatically bid for you, select AUTO, enter the amount you wish to bid up to, and then select BID. The system will bid incrementally up to the designated amount each time someone bids against you. If no one bids against you, the minimum bid will remain.

BID VIA TEXT: To see the current bid on an item, reply to any message from ABC with the item’s 3-digit item number. The ABC system will notify you of the current bid, as well as the minimum bid required. Example: 102. If you wish to place a bid on the item, reply with the 3-digit item number and the amount you would like to bid. No dollar sign ($) needed. Example: 101 300 (to place a $300 bid on item number 101).

The auction will close at 9:00 pm for ALL items. A reminder message will be sent to all registered auction bidders 15 minutes prior to closing. Upon close of the auction, winning bidders will receive a message indicating the items they have won and for what amount.

  • Taste of the Triangle11

At 9:15 pm, winning bidders can begin to stop by the Checkout tables to verify payment by the registered credit card, or elect to pay by check or cash. Auction items will be available for pick up until 10:30 pm. Any items not retrieved will be automatically charged to the winning bidder’s registered credit card and delivery arrangements must be made within three days.

Restrictions apply to certain auction items. Please read carefully the description of any item you are interested in bidding.

Auction items continue to be donated after this program was printed. Please check the tables and online listing for new additions and updates. If there are any problems or questions regarding the Auction, please contact Jemma Samala at [email protected].
